1. Heavy duty gig bag with sheet music pocket and two accessory pockets. I've recently upgraded to an ABS case so this is now surplus to requirements. Mostly home and rehearsal use, so in very good condition. Can post photos on request. SOLD
2. Forgot all about this until I was having a tidy up the other day. Still available.
3. The term 'Standards' does indeed reference a number of popular songs - mostly in Jazz (I Got Rhythm, Stella By Starlight etc...) that musicians are expected to know. As different genres of music get older and more established then they start to create their own list of 'standards' e.g. a few weeks ago I was at a jam night that featured a lot of Metal players - it was expected that I could play x bt Metallica, and y by Ozzy Osborne etc... They just tend to be the most popular tunes to play within a given style.
4.
Trouble with the early SM400's... the bass control really put the boom in there in the first place. Not usable notched beyond 12 o'clock really... but the template of those amps still dominate the thinking of todays' amp with the enhance control... The addition of the semi par 4 band make is a very capable tone shaping amp, IMO.
I found that, so I modded it to remove the Aural Enhance 'scoop'. When it runs with the EQ flat it really *is* flat!
5.
Of your options, Tort. If it were me, white pearl!
This. or mint green...
6. I've just wasted 10 minutes reading this thread! If I'd picked up a bass instead I could have played 3 and a half songs poorly in the same time. Sheesh!
7. Edge wouldn't be my first choice to spearhead guitar design, but it should make for some AWESOME effects pedals...
8. http://www.doctortweek.co.uk/shop/page/29?sessid=bism64HmmK97mTbKaKd8mj4ioLXNy5WHFrv9vRS80tDayz7CpiFa3HYwLzsmp2lr&shop_param= Tweek's knob collection...
9. My Sm400 stays flat the vast majority of the time, occasionally I need to cut the boom out, but it's easily done with the para/graphic setup on board.
10. Nice looking bass, not sure I'd drop 3k on it though.
11. I broke a string before christmas at rehearsal, but that turned out to be a problem with the bridge, once I'd got that sorted everything's been ticket-boo. I don't take a backup bass, amp or cab. Down that route madness lies... I've got a bass lead with an XLR plug on the other end though - the absolute worst case scenario is that I go through the 'snake' to the PA directly. Worse things happen at sea. Also I really look after my kit.
12.
It's the only option, really...
Option? I thought it was mandatory.
13. The D'Addario half rounds worked for me when I played a 5. http://www.daddario.com/DADProductDetail.Page?ActiveID=3769&productid=178&productname=ENR71_5_Half_Rounds_5_String_Bass__Regular_Light__45_130__Long_Scale lots of folks on here swear by the Status Hotwires though.
14. That's a beauty - I genuinely hope you're happy with it. Just remember - "Fortune favours the broke".
15. or 'ground wounds' - best of both worlds...
16. Looks suspiciously like the box for the enigma machine at Bletchley park. Given its age, it may well be. I think the marks on the top were mdd by a Supermarine Spitfire, unless I'm very much mistaken - scuffs are too close together to be otherwise.
17. Cool, glad this has had a happy ending. They stink when they blow though, don't they!
18. I was going to listen to this, but I went 'outside and closed the door'.
19.
but that's half the fun of searching for the right fuzz!
This! I found the Colorsound Bass Fuzz sounded amazing, but didn't really like my active bass through it, so I took the actives out of my bass... sometimes you just know.
20. I did the survey - took me longer than 20 seconds though, but that's probably down to my failing eyesight...
