1. A friend just sent me a link to their current EP and it's bloody brilliant; like having your head flossed with a glittery pipe-cleaner. http://thisismangelwurzel.bandcamp.com/album/dead-pets-ep
2. Surely every bass is available as fretless…
3. Nice that. I had a stoodent a couple of years ago with an Ibby 5'er and remember being rather impressed with how it played, sounded, felt, smelled etc...

My modcore broke last night. light comes on but nay sound. I don't think it's cost effective shipping it back to Hong Kong so I might just have to have a rummage, hopefully it's just the switch...
5. There's a lovely black and maple P/J bitsa for sale with some nice hardware too (mighty mite neck etc...) that looks very tempting http://basschat.co.uk/topic/228104-fs-precision-bass-special-bitsa-blackblackmaple-now-l185/page__pid__2369525#entry2369525
6. A vibrating piece of metal (string) within a magnetic field (created by the pickup magnets) can be used to induce a current. The voltage that you create governs how loud the output signal is - when you're tickling the strings you'll get a teeny weenyvoltage to the output, when you're really digging in then the voltage will be significantly greater (but still only millivolts). This is worth a watch - it's a guitar PUP, but the science stuff is exactly the same (except better) for a bass.

just this one at the moment - drilling and spraying the box will have to wait until after the weekend.
9. You know you can set the BMS to operate like a filter? http://youtu.be/K0SNVkruU3U?t=4m56s
10.
I though February 14th was 'fuzz' day for everyone? If you play your cards right. Fnarr and indeed, fnarr.
snirk snirk etc… My favourite is the Coloursound Bass Fuzz.
11.
Now I'm going to have to listen to Faith No More!
Me too. That's got to be Jim's worst guitar solo though…

Finally got round to finishing the BB preamp and it's not disappointing in any way, shape or form. I was a little bit apprehensive about just a 2 band on a pre, but it's really well voiced and sounds great.
13. I've played with bands whose frontmen have ranged from "Dance, you *****!" to "You're all queer"… Needless to say I don't gig with expensive kit anymore. And I married a dentist.
14. after using Rotosounds for many a year (and a few more) I bought a set of D'addario ProSteels last night, as they were the only round wounds they had in my size from my small, local music shop. Wow. What a difference - really balanced, punchy and just the right tension too.
15. It's easier to fix mistakes of someone already in the band than it is to bring a new musician up to speed. If he's aware of the mistakes then it's worth trying to iron out the creases with the current johnny than finding a new one. Don't practice till you get it right, practice till you don't get it wrong - there is a BIG difference.
16. I'm a sociopath too. I don't care how everyone else is doing. Welcome on board skipper.
17. If you scroll down to the bottom of this page there's some diagrams that might be useful: http://www.kitrae.net/music/big_muff_guts.html#Circuit Actually Kitrae's big muff page is worth a read even if you don't find what you're looking for.
18. Xotic BB bass pre or DHA VT1? The Ashdown Lomenzo pedal is really good too.
19. Valve O/D pedal with 3 band EQ, bright switch, colour switch (for double the dirt at the flick of a switch), boost channel and ground lift for the DI. Also it's got an mp3 input (1/8") and a headphone socket (also 1/8") for playing along to Rush albums (or anything else for that matter). Comes with a 12v PSU Some cosmetic damage to the paintwork (a couple of small chips here and there but nothing major) and the headphone socket has been serviced (replacement 2822A chip) so it now functions on both sides as intended.
