1. I'd desperately love a Thompson, having been a lifelong fan of Primus. It's unlikely ever to happen though.
2.
During my 14yrs as a lecturer in FE it was also my fault if: A student was late. A student never brought a note book and pen. A student was barely literate (I wasn't allowed to be selective at student intake, I was told I could but of course the head of dept wouldn't put that in writing. Bums on seats=money remember). A student never produced any work. A student never produced any evidence for their NVQ portfolio (NVQ's now there another thread in it's self). A student damaged anything in the workshop. A student got the boot from their workplacement (Usually for being a t##t). After I got them the placement so you can imagine that business would never take another student from me). All of the above plus more I was dragged over the coals for at one time or another. A student these days is pretty much invincible.
True dat - Been there.
3. Sounds like you were both really excited by this build, so my condolences to both of you. I hope it all turns out 'ticket boo' in the end for all concerned.
4. press 'i' and see if there's a 6 string bass TAB in the list that appears. once you've found it press 'add to score'. Once you're back on the score screen triple click the bass notation (this will select everything on that instrument), hold down the 'alt' key on the keyboard and single click the empty TAB staves and the bass part should appear as TAB.
5.
This thread made me laugh when I saw it as funnily enough I was saying to KIOgan earlier that I should take up this or the recorder as it would be cheaper than fiddling about with basses lol
Have you seen the price of bass recorders? I've got a nice Soprano and a nicer alto, but couldn't really justify the cost of going any lower in pitch.
6. but nobody liked it? Or maybe we couldn't agree on which colour looked the best?
7. Boss Micro Recorder thingy? BR80.
8. Hooray etc... Basschat needs a 'Like' button.
9.
Doesn't really affect me. I enjoy gigging but I don't really find it to be an adrenaline laden experience.
This. Mostly.
10. I can't even lift one, let alone get it airborne.
11. Yup, 'tis 30 of your earth millimetres thick.
12.
Tort. No bass looks good with pearl.
Humph!!! I will fight you, sir!
13. Mod Cores (and the Digitech for that matter) are digital pedals - they can be really picky about power supplies and positioning. They are amazing pedals for the money though.
14. it's definitely got the blue piping, I'll check the thickness of the padding tomorrow.
15. It looks like each letter has a colour associated with it - A minor and A Major are both yellow. Not sure why that is, as they contain different notes. Looks good though
16. Heavy duty gig bag with sheet music pocket and two accessory pockets. I've recently upgraded to an ABS case so this is now surplus to requirements. Mostly home and rehearsal use, so in very good condition. Can post photos on request. SOLD
17. Forgot all about this until I was having a tidy up the other day. Still available.
18. The term 'Standards' does indeed reference a number of popular songs - mostly in Jazz (I Got Rhythm, Stella By Starlight etc...) that musicians are expected to know. As different genres of music get older and more established then they start to create their own list of 'standards' e.g. a few weeks ago I was at a jam night that featured a lot of Metal players - it was expected that I could play x bt Metallica, and y by Ozzy Osborne etc... They just tend to be the most popular tunes to play within a given style.
19.
Trouble with the early SM400's... the bass control really put the boom in there in the first place. Not usable notched beyond 12 o'clock really... but the template of those amps still dominate the thinking of todays' amp with the enhance control... The addition of the semi par 4 band make is a very capable tone shaping amp, IMO.
I found that, so I modded it to remove the Aural Enhance 'scoop'. When it runs with the EQ flat it really *is* flat!
20.
Of your options, Tort. If it were me, white pearl!
This. or mint green...
21. I've just wasted 10 minutes reading this thread! If I'd picked up a bass instead I could have played 3 and a half songs poorly in the same time. Sheesh!
