1. Cool, glad this has had a happy ending. They stink when they blow though, don't they!
2. I was going to listen to this, but I went 'outside and closed the door'.
3.
but that's half the fun of searching for the right fuzz!
This! I found the Colorsound Bass Fuzz sounded amazing, but didn't really like my active bass through it, so I took the actives out of my bass... sometimes you just know.
4. I did the survey - took me longer than 20 seconds though, but that's probably down to my failing eyesight...

odb3 mod

LEDs give a nice 'tubey' tone when used as clipping diodes too...
6. I suppose if you're not gigging then it's a good way to play to an audience.
7. Axis: Bold As Love by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. f*** me it's good!
8. Or trade for whatever: cake, serendipity, scatter cushions etc...
9. Nice! JPJ is one of my favourite, all-time players. Of everything!
10. It's dead simple; remove two capacitors and put one back in a different place... The frequency response looks like this (before and after) And this is how it looks in the real world. Before: After: 1. remove the 0.1 uF capacitor 2. Use it to replace the 0.001 uF capacitor
11. GFS pickups all the way, for guitar OR bass.
12. After a 4 hour rehearsal today I can confirm that my SM400 is now über loud - last rehearsal it was pretty much maxed out to keep up with a drummer and 2 guitarists, today it didn't go above half.
13. Depending on how it's wired (presumably an RC filter, if 2 of the 3 lugs are going to ground) the 10nf will focus on or around 650Hz to 3,385Hz and the 15nf will operate on frequencies between 429Hz to 2,257Hz. Obviously there's a lot of overlap, but of the 2 I'd plump for the 10nf. You should of course wire the 10nf in parallel with a 2nd, 2nf capacitor to achieve 12nf, your frequencies would then be 536Hz to 2,281Hz. Another option would be to use a variable capacitor, (a little trimpot) but I'm not sure there's enough room on the board for anything lie that...
14.
Doctortweek for all your odds and sods needs :-)
This. Get some Lead solder too - lead free stuff melts at a higher temperature than 'proper' solder, and you risk damaging the board.
15. I preferred Sibelius 2 to anything they've done since. Unfortunately OS updates mean that that's not an option anymore. Sibelius First 7 does everything I need now, but it looks like an iPhone app instead of a professional creative tool, I suppose that's just marketing though.
16. DIY colposcopy.
17. £300 scrap value? Possibly...
18. Hump-da-bump
19. http://www.doctortweek.co.uk/shop/article_144/Solder-18SWG-(1-meter)---Low-Temp%2C-Fast-Flow%2C-proper-solder!.html?sessid=qu6QmpmDu3X0tqBAqCZwU2WxrNDpuhT5y1J5gHBWDHy8UJ0DezSiv2LfFgULyTS7&shop_param=cid%3D19%26aid%3D144%26 That'll do nicely.
20. what he said - sounds like a top night out.
21. My mate once used one to keep the exhaust on thr van from Portsmouth back to Manchester (post gig).
22. I'm off to one tonight, purely because I want them to book my 'real' band. Wish me luck, blues in 'E' here we come...
