1. My 'bitsa' has an Affinity neck, and with a DiMarzio will power pickup it;'s a lovely instrument to play - sounds great too.
2. Yup. I've learnt SOOOO much rom her "Electric Bass Lines" books.
3.
oo nice, have you a link to summat similar please?
One of these: http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Kinsman-ABS-Pedal-Board-Case-5-Pedals/VE8?origin=product-ads&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=&utm_campaign=PLA+General&utm_content=LjDQubDC%7Cdc_pcrid_36894138439_plid__kword__match__
4. My DHA fits perfectly inside my aluminium case (a cheap Kinsman one) without putting pressure on the knobs or switches.
5. You'll need to rout/drill/chisel a big hole for the hum bucker at the neck, fortunately if it's not too neat a job then it's covered by the scratch plate, so that works in your favour. Choice of wood does make a difference to the tone - go for alder, and a maple fingerboard and neck to give you plenty of bright, grindy goodness

Trumpet player seems to have monopolised all the hair - could he not have shared some with the 'bone and 'phone players? Cad

Yup; offboard wiring (pots and switches and sockets etc...) is a bit of an aquired skill. It can end up like knitting with spaghetti if you're not careful. That said it shouldn't put you off having a go. If something goes wrong then it's not dealung with dangeroys amounts of voltage and yoy'll learn a new skill that can be used to mend a bass or replace bits of it as and when the need arises - can save you a few quid by not having to pay a tech to do that sort of stuff for you.
8. Jizzlobber - Fairh No More Broken hearts are for assholes - Frank Zappa Too drunk to f*** - Dead Kennedys. Etc...
9. Cool! Have a good one (both of you).
10. Nice. I really fancy some chocolate now...
11.
Also, i didn't know the Tom Daley thread got locked......that is a surprise!
It was inevitable really.
12. I used to break the E strings quite regularly. Turns out it was a really badly setup bass…
13. Mrs_5 is a MUCH better driver than me. I'm a better bassist, but probably because she doesn't play….
14. Mighty Mite necks are well worth a look too.
15. I'm happy with my playing. It doesn't stop me experimenting with different techniques or learning new things though.
16. Dunno about that, the serial number puts it at 1992/1993 (I think), but I thought the US deluxes were strung through the body. I may be wrong, as I'm no fender expert, but there are mixed reviews of these 'Boner' basses. The 'block inlays and no bindings' rosewood board looks like it's come off a 70's Japanese Ibanez or similar…
Pictures please (I shouldn't need to ask )
It's now switchable between the modded (bass friendly input capacitor, tone control and clean blend control) valve caster, and a Tonepad Small Clone clone that I didn't have a box for.
18. I'd say have a go yourself. There's a nice Mighty Mite® Jazz neck going on here for £67. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/222496-mighty-mite-jazz-neck-vintage-tint-fender-decal/ I've got one on my HH fretless Jazz and it's lovely.
19. Wind it round the handle on the cab, then into the head? Of course, there's always gaffa tape…
20. I'd be going for the Benz stuff too. Amazing kit for silly prices now. Quite a few folks on here have had mixed results with the PF stuff.
Thanks! There are others in the works (passive "drive" and passive mid-freq cut)
Passive drive? A feedback looped pair of germanium diodes to ground? 1N34? I'm very intrigued…
