[/quote] all of the above. Transistor sockets are useful, as you can often swap transistors to change how much gain/raspiness etc a fuzz pedals have, same with diodes (depending on the circuit).

Oh yeah, and "heat seeker" by AC/DC.

Great for tunes like "Rocket" by Def Leppard, "Seek and Destroy" by Metallica, "Love Missile F1-11" by Sigue Sigue Sputnik (or PWEI if you prefer) etc…

In the UK I'd give Watford Valves a call. I've had nothing but great advice and customer service from them, particularly Derek, who knows practically everything about valve amps - it's a long conversation but fascinating. I'd like to play a fretless (4 or 5, I'm not fussy) just to see if it's as GAS inducing as it's supposed to be.
