1. Artec dropped to £20 of your earth pounds now. OR trade for a Wilkinson MM humbucker (or similar). needs to have 4 wires though.
2. DHA VT1 http://www.davehallamps.co.uk/page17.html
3.
Edirol UA-20 audio capture thingumma jiggy.
There's your problem right there - this has been superseded (for exactly the problem you've described) by the Edirol UA-20 audio capture Oojamaflip. I'd have a look at the input and output (F4 if memory serves) in Cubase. Also look in preferences to see what the default input is. Could be that (by default) Cubase is creating a stereo input and you're only giving it a mono one - causing the 'ground' to go to the second input and giving you a hum.

5. It's a bit limited though, I can't put MM humbuckers on a Jazz!
6. I had a round backed Romanian one that I bought for about £90 in roughly 2003. Then I got married and we had kids, and they turned it into mandolin segments.
7. Refresh your web browser, sometimes they use images in the cache memory to make everything run a bit quicker. Refreshing it forces the computer to reload everything afresh.
8. I like the one you've got now Pestie, where's that from?
9. 'Gigability' of a pub? I use a rubber chicken to measure it.
10. 'oo cares? 'appy birfday 'array!
11. everything is awesome!
12. I'd look for an outboard pre/tone shaping unit. The Behringer BDI-21 gets a LOT of respect round here because they're cheap, but punch way above their weight (and for my money, sounds better than the Sansamp it's modelled on), or if you're after something a bit more 'upper class' then I'd go for a Sadowsky outboard pre or the Dave Hall DI-EQ If you're after recording something with a bit of dirt in your tone then the DHA VT1 EQ or Xotic BB Bass preamp will do this beautifully.
13. Dunno, it's a lot to pay for a body. I'd like to see proof of its authenticity/age of the body though.
14. Looking good that. SPB-3 would be my weapon of choice too!
15.
Wow you gig with no cables?
yup. I'm using Flea's 'superbowl' bass Seriously though all that stuff fits in my bass gigbag.
16. I can't believe the amount of tools and spares people are taking to gigs. Leatherman and a spare set of strings is all I've ever needed.
17. Batman™ style utility belt.
18.
Great minds thinking a bit alike.
Yup.
19. I was going to suggest cloning one. Something like this:
20. A couple of musician mates and I formed a band called 'Vaj' years ago. we were all wuite competent on our respective instruments, so the idea was to form a Punk band, but the idea was that you had to play an instrument that you couldn't play to perform on. It was very loud and a lot of fun, but for some reason we never got round to gigging…
21.
MB1. Currant pickups?
Mmmm. Looks like the action needs raisin too.
22. Me. I am. It's taken nearly 20 years, but I've taken the actives out of my bass and cloned a Sadowsky outboard for my clean sound, for the dirt it's the Xotic BB Bass pre (erm, cloned again - I'm poor!) My live amp (SWR SM400) has far more tone shaping potential than any sane musician would ever need, but it's the there to correct imperfections at venues/rehearsal spaces.
23.
I wasn't an early adopter of the Smiths, and it is true the typical fan type of red bomber jacket doc Martin wearing bespectacled tragedian did tend to get up ones nose. However, when they all moved on to the Housemartins and Bronski beat the way was clear for better scrutiny and they came out well. Morrissey is indeed an emotion inducing personage, but that's exactly what I thought frontmen in bands ought to be and still do. Sadly, they've all disappeared and been replaced by melodine adjusted clothes horses which as Morrissey once said, "No,it's lock jawed pop stars thicker than pigshit, nothing to convey.. They're so scared to show intelligence, It might smear their lovely career" Def a twat though.
All of this. It's 100% true.
