Boxed it up today and looking forward to putting it in place tomorrow. The idea is this: Using the crossover on the back of my SWR SM400 head I intend to send the high frequencies (350Hz or so and up) to the valve O/D and leave the fundamentals (up to E at the edge of the fretboard) untouched. We shall see...
2. Halfrounds are available too and claim to offer the best of both worlds.
3. I know that this is all subjective, but I really like Presto. For me the songwriting was really strong on that album, the sound of the album is massively over-polished, and Alex's guitars are übertinny but I really like the songs.
4. I've got Counterparts on vinyl tucked away upstairs, I might give it a spin this week...
5.
Post it on photobucket and then paste the html link it gives you for posting on the internet.
yup - photobucket for me too.
6. Or you could go for option B: If you don't want it and she wants to assuage some guilt then she could buy it for me - she'll feel better for it, you won't have a bass that you don't really like and I'll be happy as Larry. No? Worth a try!
7. P basses. I tried one when I first started playing years (and years) ago, and thought they were 'old man' basses. I wouldn't say that I love them, but I'm certainly more enthusiastic about them as I approach the big 40... ..and a HUGE +1 for Dandelion's 'sobriety and slippers' manifesto!
8. I used some aluminium tape that I found in Aldi a couple of months ago - Aluminium is really good at magnetic shielding too! It's supposed to be for pipes or gutters or something of that ilk, but it's really good at bass cavities as well.
9.
I just did a quick version on my P with flats on it to show the difference in tone.
Nice. Right up to the last bit where you tried to grab my sandwich...
10. yup. If you want to be really thorough I'd do the pickup cavities as well.
11. Nobody fancy any squelchy fun? erm, just let me rephrase that...

Just finished my first valve O/D tonight. Currently it looks a lot like an octopus, but it sounds brilliant. Got a blend control too, so I can still keep some clean low end in there too...
13. KISS MY BALD FACE!!!
14. 'tar in place. Now for the razor - long time no see.
15. The Lomenzo is a surprisingly good piece of kit. I've had the Aguilar tone hammer and there was a noticeable dip in volume with the drive circuit engaged (sounded good though). These days (and for a couple of years now) I've used a Dave Hall VT1 EQ pretty much exclusively - it'll do everything from a little bit of fur around the notes through 'proper mucky', right up to 'dirty protest'. Not strictly distortion, as it's an overdrive pedal, but a really versatile unit. http://www.davehallamps.co.uk/page29.html
16.
We should also all have tache BC avatars for Movember?
bagsy Magnum PI!
17. Gentlemen (and unless I'm very much mistaken, one or two ladies) the hour is nigh. Anyone got any particular styles in mind? I'm tempted to go for a 'Lemmy'...
18. D'addario halfrounds for me. Disappointing.
19.
We had a Westone Spectrum. I thought that was pretty cool.
I had a ZX Spectrum - that WAS cool!
20. Moi aussi. Got rid of the "full set" with the electric yesterday in readiness for a close razor shave tomorrow. Sorry about that, but pictures are in the rules.
21. Didn't have anything like that. I didn't study music at school because the teachers were a bit erm... intense shall we say. Also it was classical or nothing and I just wasn't interested. I got a job, bought a bass and taught myself. THAT bass was a shocker though!
22. Bought a Squier affinity neck from Anth last week, not got round to doing anything with it yet, but great comms throughout and it was quickly dispatched and well packaged. good do!
23. Can't open iphone files here - do you have an mp3 or similar?
24.
However, it is being broadcast on BBC R3 on (IIRC) 10th November
Duly noted. I'll dig out my old VHS copy of it and turn the sound down on the telly.
