1. Just curious, how good is 'plastic wood' for strength after it's dry? I've always wondered whether this or epoxy based filler is better strength-wise. Sorry for the slight thread derailment.
2. How 'bout that "Ace of Spades" by Motörhead?
3. Ooh, High Voltage by AC/DC would be in my top 3, but it's hard to pick a winner. Are Iron Maiden heavy rock or NWOBHM? I'm confused...
4. IBTL
5. Good luck Paul, hope you've got enough votes.
6. I saw him in 1995 (March ish) at UMIST in Manchester. Got to meet him afterwards and he came across as a genuinely lovely bloke. Brilliant sense of humour too.
7. Muff style fuzz for 'Hysteria', ZVEX Wooly mammoth (or similar gated fuzz) for 'Time is Running Out', and you can get pretty close to the 'Plug In Baby' sound with an EHX Bass balls. Hope this helps.
8. My 'bitsa' has an Affinity neck, and with a DiMarzio will power pickup it;'s a lovely instrument to play - sounds great too.
9. Yup. I've learnt SOOOO much rom her "Electric Bass Lines" books.
10.
oo nice, have you a link to summat similar please? 11. My DHA fits perfectly inside my aluminium case (a cheap Kinsman one) without putting pressure on the knobs or switches.
12. You'll need to rout/drill/chisel a big hole for the hum bucker at the neck, fortunately if it's not too neat a job then it's covered by the scratch plate, so that works in your favour. Choice of wood does make a difference to the tone - go for alder, and a maple fingerboard and neck to give you plenty of bright, grindy goodness

Trumpet player seems to have monopolised all the hair - could he not have shared some with the 'bone and 'phone players? Cad

Yup; offboard wiring (pots and switches and sockets etc...) is a bit of an aquired skill. It can end up like knitting with spaghetti if you're not careful. That said it shouldn't put you off having a go. If something goes wrong then it's not dealung with dangeroys amounts of voltage and yoy'll learn a new skill that can be used to mend a bass or replace bits of it as and when the need arises - can save you a few quid by not having to pay a tech to do that sort of stuff for you.
16. Jizzlobber - Fairh No More Broken hearts are for assholes - Frank Zappa Too drunk to f*** - Dead Kennedys. Etc...
17. Cool! Have a good one (both of you).
18. Nice. I really fancy some chocolate now...
19. 8 more and we can clear 600…
20.
Also, i didn't know the Tom Daley thread got locked......that is a surprise!
It was inevitable really.
21. I used to break the E strings quite regularly. Turns out it was a really badly setup bass…
22. Mrs_5 is a MUCH better driver than me. I'm a better bassist, but probably because she doesn't play….
23. Mighty Mite necks are well worth a look too.
