1. Shot in the head? Are they still making cabinets though?
2. scratch that, I've just made one. Not bad at all...
3. Anybody got any experience of these? If it does what I think it does it'll fit right into my master plan...
4. Play a G note on the E string (3rd fret) if it's the same frequency of hum, then it's definitely a grounding problem, as they are the same frequency (~50Hz)
5.
I'm only using a single Laney 4x10" and its plenty loud for what I need - I also play with two guitarists and a drummer plus I don't go through the PA. In fact last week when I was gigging my cab was in the corner of the room there was so much bass that it felt like my brain was vibrating but I could still hear every note.
Don't put it in the corner then! That'll make it very boomy (as you've just discovered).
6. I ran an LH1000 and then an LH500 into a hydrive 410 and it was always enough to keep up with a (very) loud drummer and two guitarists.
7. For me the essentials are overdrive (just a little) and an octaver.
8. That Mark King chap seems to be able to lift his up under his chin, so his must be the lightest...
9. Hydrive 4x10 are great cabs for rock and metal, no matter what head you've got they'll take whatever you can throw at them! Deep and punchy too.
10. brill. I've just been listening to the 'working man' Rush covers album and now this! Rush-tastic.
11. It's got to at least break even, but I still enjoy it on the odd occasion that it doesn't!
12. Mine are a lot like that. If I ever turn up with a "stock" bass she'll know it's new.
13. Very. Very Good. All kinds of good. The production sounds a little dated now, but the songwriting and playing is superb.
14.
How can anyone resist the line Wuwwy wuwwy, super scuwwy, Call the twoops out in a huwwy. ???
It's twoo, it's twoo!
15.
Trust you
I wouldn't...
16.
Don't tell her, she'll probably never notice. If she asks; "Is this new?" Look at her incredulously (but don't over do it) and just say "no, I've had that one for years."
Ah, the penny's just dropped - THIS is the real reason behind 'Relic'ed instruments. Wife/Partner/Significant Other: "Is this new?" Bassist/Musician/Collector: "what, that old thing? I've had it for years, just look how old it is..."
17. it's just toooooo far awaaaayyyy!!!! But kudos to you for pssing on the bargain to another BC'er. That's what our little community is all about, and that makes me happy.
18.
14. If you join a brass band, place your chair a suitable distance from the trumpet player as you don't want to clout him in the head when you play.
would you care to elucidate, SpaceChick? Hmm?
19. Carlsbro Cobra. It's even got its own thread on here... for all the wrong reasons.
20. Ace! You know, using a pair of socks as a makeshift mute results in projectile socks. Try it - it's brilliant!
21. SWR SM400 bridged into a Hartke Hydrive 410. I use it because it sounds superb no matter which bass goes through it and it's LOUD! Also it's not as heavy as any of the other rigs I've had. (Putting wheels on the Hydrive might be considered cheating, but you know what I mean).
