1. There aren't any hard or fast rules on this, I tend to run my bass into a valve DI and record that on its own channel, then take another feed from the DI onto my pedalboard (sometimes then to an SWR head and DI that) into another channel in ProTools. Gives greater flexibility for mixing but on the other hand might make mixing more complicated.
2. I'm just north of Manchester, 'Band on the Wall' in Manchester has reopened recently and might be up for a 'big name' evening to promote their relaunch.
3.
The only problem I can see, is if you have kids. Turn up on a booking with Lego bricks, Action man boots and old stinking fish fingers rattling about.
Welcome to my gig bags!
4. A Tele with a trem and humbuckers - where do I sign? Nice that!
5. Samples - https://soundcloud.c...r-clone-samples It's not quite as dirty as it should be as I used a 2n3904 instead of the 2n5088 transistor as Q2, but it's still pretty extreme!
6. Mains cable is actually very good speaker cable, rated at 13A too!
7. alright, I'll play. First up - my fretted 'home bass' P bass body hacked at to take a MM pickup and a J neck PUP, 'Yamato' neck and Artec 2 band EQ then my main squeeze - J body altered to take the MM bridge PUP, Mighty Mite fretless J neck and an Artec 3 band EQ
8.
If he doesn't want his salmon pink Jazz, I'll look after it for him....
+1!
9. Nice. I had the CE2-B a few years ago and that was lovely too.
10. will it feedback, d'you think?
11. +1 to all of the usual suspects - plus Keith Emerson's left hand.
12. "Looks like it's been knocked up in a shed" - what an insult to us "shed knocker-uppers"!
13. Do it. I was in a band that went from doing standard rock stuff with the odd Queen number to a very successful Queen tribute band. We just learnt the 'Live at Wembley '86' set and played that up and down the country for a few years. Be prepared for it to get a bit grating though - playing the same set at every gig a few nights a week can really send you under.
14. I'd have some more modal stuff up your sleeve too - So What springs to mind.
15. I have nothing against capos per se, it's just that backing someone who uses them can often be a bit tricky...
16. Once backed a singer/songwriter at the drop of a hat (3 hours notice - including a 45 minute drive to the gig), I had a text message that went something like "song a - B Capo 3, song b - D capo 2 etc..." Forgive me for not taking the fretless to that gig
17. replaced the input cap (10nf) to 0.1µf and it's made chuff all difference. I think I'll have a closer look at the schem tonight. Sounds AWESOME on guitar though... Looked at it in a bit more detail but can't see where the low end is being lost. Maybe there's just too much octave/filth in there...
18. LOVE this - Jaco just riding the groove and Herbie Hancock on fire over the top of it. Pure class!
19.
I resorted to wall hangers. Little b*ggers can't get to them up there....
erm, you DO know that if you keep feeding them, they grow...?
