1. I sold my second one for £40 because I thought that the Agi Octamiser would be better. I actually preferred the sound of the OC2, but I'm glad it went to another BC'er who got some use out of it. Damn that GAS ; there's probably a lesson in there somewhere.
2. Ooh, a mystery. We love it!
3. Top ones are germanium diodes, they've got arsenic inside them so be a bit careful with them. If you can get a multimeter with a diode setting in it you can check the forward voltage, that should give you a bit more information. They might be 1N4914 silicon though, they're quite a common zener diode.

5. I've always sounded like me. Geddy Lee has always copied my playing though, even before I played bass he was stealing the lines from inside my head. Bastard.
6. "here come the bastards" - Primus: Also, by contrast you'll sound positively harmonious.
7. LM324 in position but still getting only wooly/no treble through the OCT 1&2 signal paths. Had a bit of a think about this - the schematic calls for 2 SK30 transistors which are MOSFETs, I think I've substituted them with JFET ones. Oops. SK30s in the post. turning out to be quite costly this - the LM324s were £1.50 for 5 and the SK30s are something like 19p EACH!!! Good job doctortweek.co.uk has loads of vintage/rare goodies on stock. He's on my Xmas card list for sure!
8. Not a fan of most Sabbath stuff but this is brilliant!
9. Had this sat around for a while and not really used it for months. Boss SYB5 clone in a plastic case. Velcro on the bottom for mounting to a pedalboard. Sold
10. The essential Jaco Pastorious - includes Birdland, Teen Town, Amerika, Donna Lee, Continuum and loads more - £10 Building and Expanding Walking Basslines by Ed Friedland. SOLD Maybe more to come, having a bit of a sort out...
11. Finished the board, but no actual 'octave' effect. I substituted the LM324 quad op amp for a TL074, assuming that since the pinouts were the same it would work just as well. It doesn't. I get a clean signal and two muddy, no treble signals through the OCT 1&2 signals. I reckon it needs to be an actual LM324. TL074 is JFET based and I don't think the 324 is. Investigation continues...
12. AC/DC If you want blood, you've got it Tool Lateralus Jaco Pastorious Jaco The House at Pooh Corner (2 CD set) - purely for the kids....
13. It'll all be over by [s]Xmas[/s] Wednesday....
14.
I had a MM fretless neck on a Precision Special, it had a composite board and it was fantastic!
sounds like the one on my jazz. Best. Neck. Ever.
15. I only heard one obvious mistake. The slapping.
16. Going through my 'bits' box the other day I found an incomplete set of Ernie Ball flats that I put on my 5 a while ago and then took off a couple of months later. They are a .045" set, but the D is missing. Also the 'G' is cut for a 4 over 1 configuration, so it won't fit on a fender style bass. I've got the B, E, A (which will fit a fender style headstock) and a G which won't. They were £50 new last year, so I reckon £5 per string isn't unreasonable, I'll cover postage.
17. Lovely blog Bluejay, thanks for taking the time to share!
18. Fish's first solo album Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors has some real gems too. That there John Giblin again. http://youtu.be/1_4Nl_qFF8o or Doug Wimbish and his sliding harmonics on this one from Living Color (sic). http://youtu.be/vqnVhCADFHY
19. The AmpLion and the Studio devil are getting a lot of use this week.
