1. First 'Van Halen' album. Tuned to Eb and a bit more, but not enough to be 'E'.
2.
. Gotta get me one of those Hotpoints.
Didn't Geddy favour the 'Maytag'?
Would you say that he influenced a lot of people to pickup a 5 string in the '90s?
Not as many as Les Claypool, I'll wager!
5. I really like the look of that 5 string corvette. Always have. I think it's one if the few 'non-fender' body shapes that is genuinely beatiful. Lots of manufacturers try to reinvent the wheel, or try to be different for the sake of it but the fluid lines of the 'vette are a triumph of musical instrument design.
6. Personal hygiene is important in confined spaces - so have a bath! Seriously though, get in and set up as quickly as you can. If it's a borrowed amp/already in the rehearsal room and it sounds sh*t don't make a fuss, just try to make the best of a bad situation. Oh, and take a spare lead.
7.
http://www.loewenherzbass.com/ This is me done. I accept most basses, but this is too much. EDIT - Sukop Classic, make's me a bit ill too... http://www.sukop.com/clasic.php
The Jazz retro's ain't too bad though...
8.
Hmmm. Interesting. Have you tried this ? Any specific links I can look at with pics etc ? I tried the partial link above but couldn't get anywhere with it.
I've used this method of 'gating' my new 'supermuff' and, although it gates the signal, you need to roll the volume up to full - essentially you've voltage starving the transistor which results in a MASSIVE volume drop. Hmm, there must be a better way to do this...
9. Guitarist who can keep time though - it's not all bad. No different to X-Factor winners really; soul-less performances programmed into personality-shy 'performers'. Shiny!
10. I win - I claim my £5
11. Or they might have one to sell and want to see how yours does.
12. 'Electric counterpoint' by Steve Reich - trance inducing minimlism is never good when you're in charge of a motor vehicle. http://youtu.be/pIF3rKppVWU
13. For detailed listening and recording at home I swear by a pair of Grado SR60s - excellent quality. I've also got a pair of old Fostex T10s that are very good, but don't really stack up next to the Grados. For general in-ear stuff I love the sennheiser CX300s, though they can be a little bit boomy in places. I've used loads of different in-ear stuff (Sony, JVC etc) but they all seem to colour the sound a bit too much for my liking.
14.
Why don't you set one up for crap comedan bassists?
I'm in!
15. I used to play a B15 as my main instrument. I'd definitely have another. Only fretless...
16. I had an FX68 (DOD chorus) back in the day - lovely little machine.
17. Having a bit of a clearout and have found that I have two 4 string BBOT bridges and I have no idea why. There was probably a good reason that I bought them, but I can't seem to recall what that was. both chrome and fully working, no screws though. Ideal for projects or as paperweights etc... £7.50 each.
18. I'd on Sibelius first and loving it. If you need to produce pdf files for posting online then why not just do a screenshot and tidy it up in a photo app?
19. I thought Will Smith wrote half of those songs...?
