1. 'Electric counterpoint' by Steve Reich - trance inducing minimlism is never good when you're in charge of a motor vehicle. http://youtu.be/pIF3rKppVWU
2. For detailed listening and recording at home I swear by a pair of Grado SR60s - excellent quality. I've also got a pair of old Fostex T10s that are very good, but don't really stack up next to the Grados. For general in-ear stuff I love the sennheiser CX300s, though they can be a little bit boomy in places. I've used loads of different in-ear stuff (Sony, JVC etc) but they all seem to colour the sound a bit too much for my liking.
3.
Why don't you set one up for crap comedan bassists?
I'm in!
4. I used to play a B15 as my main instrument. I'd definitely have another. Only fretless...
5. I had an FX68 (DOD chorus) back in the day - lovely little machine.
6. Having a bit of a clearout and have found that I have two 4 string BBOT bridges and I have no idea why. There was probably a good reason that I bought them, but I can't seem to recall what that was. both chrome and fully working, no screws though. Ideal for projects or as paperweights etc... £7.50 each.
7. I'd on Sibelius first and loving it. If you need to produce pdf files for posting online then why not just do a screenshot and tidy it up in a photo app?
8. I thought Will Smith wrote half of those songs...?
9. I don't play in music shops. I tend to bimble around tutting and glaring with barely concealed disgust at young people who deign to play music. Don't they know that music shops are run for the purpose of the staff, not the customer (seems to be my experience lately).
10.
I see what you did there....
or not...
11. Trying to convince myself that I don't need another one of these; they're brilliant. The DI on these is super-quiet too.
12. Yes, very pleased with how this turned out, makes it far more useable.
13. Good idea. I'm going to get seriously into walking By my birthday (mayish) I will have posted 3 tunes to yoogletube. These tunes will be: Ornithology Autumn leaves So what
14. O/D, Fuzz, chorus, octave, filter and synth bass pedal. I voted 'yes'.
15. Jazz. So, just to sum up: Jazz.
16. I think I need a custom job doing - a P bass scratchplate with a Jazz bridge pickup cutout. I've got some gaffa tape somewhere...
17.
All of 'em. Every single one. http://www.alembic.c...fo/fcvault.html
Sad but true.
18.
You band is too loud. It`s not big or clever to be louder than anyone else, just makes it impossible to play properly and makes you sound like sh*te out front. I know I`m coming across like an old w***er, but seriously, if playing a gig gives you immediate hearing problems, you are doing something badly wrong. Have a word with your band or go deaf. You decide.
true dat. Sorry.
19. Up for sale is my EHX Mini Q-tron. It's been modded to accept a standard 2.1mm Boss sized 9v adaptor, true bypass using a 3PDT footswitch and has had the 'volume pot' mod done. A couple of scratches on the car and velcro on the bottom. Come with original wooden box and paperwork SOLD
20. Musicman Big Al. I'm sure (like all MM basses) they're a joy to play, and have a massive palette of tones to choose from, but I saw one once and it made my eyes throw up. That's right - eye-bile. I'd have one though, and only play it in the dark.
21.
Show us a pic!!
Don't act like you're not impressed! The switch in the bottom right toggles between Silicon and germanium diodes in the feedback loop of the 2nd gain stage. Nice!
