1. Got a 2 band on my fretless and it's actually pretty good. Tempted by a 3 band...
2. I never hot swap anything; ALWAYS turn phantom power off before changing microphones! ;-)
3. Selling my Chord BOD50 (ODB3 clone), yours for £20 Both in metal boxes, the BOD50 will run on battery or 9v DC centre negative (standard BOSS or equivalent).
4.
Bit OT Bremen, but why do you have a TV in your pants?
5. If I'm depping I'll usually get CDs in the post (or digital equivalent) and maybe one rehearsal to top and tail stuff. Most of the time though any diffferent arrangements are hastily mapped out during soundcheck. Often I'll have to make my own charts, but TBH, most cover bands play the same sort of stuff, so once you've done a couple then you start to build up a library. £50 for all that is a bit optimistic though.

Hartke LH500
I have an LH500, and I've never once had any sort of grind from it at all. Its easily the cleanest amp I've ever used.
True dat, if you've got some distortion then plug your bass into the 'active' socket (assuming that you don't want distortion, that is), occasionally on board Pre's can overdrive the tube in the preamp stage, but only very rarely. One curious thing about these amps is that the EQ section has a 'built in' mid scoop with all three knobs set to 12 o'clock. I think to get a (nearly) transparent sound from the amp the bass has to be at 10 o'clock, mid on full and treble all the way off IIRC.
Or one bored man with lots of computers!
guilty as charged.
8. I listened to the 'Madness' single and it took me a couple of goes. It's really very, very dull, and Dubstep really doesn't suit them. Fair play to the for constantly pushing their sound and trying different approaches/genres, I just don't think that this one works, which is a shame, as I really quite like Muse.
9. "Advice for dipping a toe in the Rock genre" says you, "P Bass" says I. Oh, and a little bit of overdrive goes a long way. Ditto what everyone else has said about doubling the guitar riff - if it's good enough for Led Zep...
10. Sorry Matt, not got that one. Transcribing upper extensions of Jazz chords is easier (for me at least) on a piano. I tend to get the root note first and then find the other notes that fit - then I worry about what the chord actually is from a theory perspective.
11. or give Dr Tweek a bell - he's uncannily good at finding NOS components etc... http://www.doctortweek.co.uk
12. Hi matt, i'll have a look through my real books to see what I've got...
13.
...the guitar player and I played a 12-bar blues in which we played the whole thing a semi-tone apart (he was in Bb, I played it in . What''s more, we alternated so, after each chorus, we swapped. No-one noticed. You may be agonising over that sharpened 5th but, trust me, no-one else is, possibly not even the rest of your band.
Taxed - can't wait for the next 'dinner' gig.
14.
Am I the only one who though this thread was going to be about [s]Rudy Sarzo[/s] Gene Simmons?
Fixed.
15. Hi matt I've got a confession mate, i use your site as a transcription resource. Sorry bout dat. Snce we're sharing, I sometimes leave the toilet seat up too.
16. Billy Joe Armstrong really struggled to smash his, and he's a *real* punk rocker.
17. Pop music has always been about technology - double-tracking vocals, selective EQ'ing and using artificial reverberation to 'blur' imperfections in vocal performances (and sometimes fretless bass too!) to ensure a more marketable product are common place. Autotune is simply the next step in the race to be fully dependent on technology. What's different about Autotune (and others) is that the public are aware of it. Back in the day the 'tricks of the trade' were closely guarded secrets.
18. If you've got a weedy output (technical term) and you've changed the battery then I'd look at the wiring as Mark suggested. It may be that one of the wires isn't fully connected, but it may also be due to phasing issues - check that the two wires from your pickups are going to the right places on the Pre, otherwise no amount of soldering will rectify the problem.
19. Curse you BC, just bought the 'Tower of Doom' album. Back to the OP, do you have the Twins 1 and 2 albums? It's Jaco with his big band live and both discs are incredible. I had the 'Invitation' album (edited single CD version of 1 and 2) for years and loved that, last month I got hold of the 'Twins' (so to speak) and realised what I was missing. Awesome performances from all concerned.
20.
Do what I did,buy a Fender,use it for 34 years......
This.
21. I bought All American Alien Boy by Ian Hunter on the strength of Jaco's playing and really like it.
22. Just tried to have a listen and I can't access any samples - I get a white rectangle in the centre of my screen ad nothing else. I'm on OSX 10.8 using safari if this helps. Like everything else though,
