1. no toolshed? where do you keep your erm, you know....things?
2. Don't worry, you just can't do it yet. Singing and playing bass at the same time is notoriously difficult; it just takes time, patience and electric-shock therapy.
3.
Mate I'm liking this, btw, what patch cables & power are you using? Proper nice and tidy
Them look like "George L's' to me, and yes, they are neat and tidy - really good quality too.
4. Wow! I've got one of these for my acoustic bass guitar. And yes, I am a pimp. "Ya Damn Right" bump.
5. I haven't got a dog. My cat makes a quick exit once I start playing. next door's dogs are a different matter though.... They do not, not, not, like the low end.
6.
I've had that Jonas Helborg book for over 10 years and still not mastered a single chord!
don't think, feeeeeeeel.
7.
Me too !!!!!!! Life's great , isn't it ?
Mine is. You can feck off!
8. ooh, I see what you did there - very canny! I can see I shall have to keep my eye on you...
9. Is it still considered DIY if you're having one made? thought not [/pedantry]
10. the single best bass chords book I've found is this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chord-Bassics-Compact-Reference-Library/dp/0825610583 By mucho respected player Jonas Hellborg. Really easy to follow diagrams and a logical layout. £3.83 on Amazon. If you don't find it useful I'll reimburse you!
11.
Dave Hall VT1EQ, bass in one end, iPod into the line input and headphones at my kitchen table. Simples
OR failing that an EHX headphone amp and earbuds. Not as nice as the VT1 though...
12. I'm moving on my Ernie Ball flatwound 5 string set. 45s and not really been used as often as I thought. These fit a bass with 4 over and 1 under tuners, which means that the G string is too short for a standard 5 in-line tuner headstock. PM me for more info - I could even measure it if you like... £25 posted.
13.
I got it when the Classic Rock pack came out & I still haven't listened to it yet.
Oooh, do yourself a favour. It's brilliant.
14. I couldn't find one that wasn't an obnoxious, self absorbed arse-hole, so I learnt to sing. Guess what? Now I'm an obnoxious, self absorbed arse-hole (but i play bass too!), result.

DIY Effects

Just did a sizeable order from Dr Tweek this evening - amazingly it seems to have cost less than half of what it would at Craplins - and the components are in stock! New trem and envelope filter pedals this weekend...

Slap effects advice

Compressor and (if you really want the '80's sound) a touch of chorus should do the job nicely. I like a tiny amount of delay or if I'm feeling saucy, some reverse reverb from an Alesis MidiVerb 3 - Nice.
17. +1, wires come out at the G string end.
18. I've just had a year without a guitar and have found that I am reliant on it for songwriting. Composing instrumental music is easy without one, but I find that I'm knackered when it comes to writing songs without a guitar. That's just me though. New guitar should arrive next week...
19. If you're after a 'Bloodsugarsexmagick' bass sound then I'm afraid it's none of the above. Best save up for a Wal.
