I'd spend that money on 'thumb reduction surgery' for the two chaps who 'demoed' this bass in those videos. Fine, you can slap, but what about the versatility of the bass?

Been using one of these for a while now, and it's become something of an 'essential' piece of kit. It's a great practice amp (Line in for iPod or similar) and a headphone socket that will also drive two 8Ω speakers, and the lovely tubey warmth and grit that we've all come to expect from Dave's kit. The headphone output is a little bit 'hissy' but not massively so, and to be honest, once you start playing it becomes unnoticeable. Where it becomes indispensable (for me at least) is recording; I use the DI out to go straight into Protools and then use the 1/4" output to go through the FX rig and record both channels at once - makes for an easier mixdown as I can blend just the right amount of effects with a lovely crisp, edgy valve bass tone. Both outputs have their own volume controls, so it's easy to get the right balance of output to fussy pedals (like the OC2 or ZVex Wooly Mammoth) that don't like a hot input signal. Absolutely love it, well done Dave.

If it's just for transcription then I use a pair of these: [attachment=117440:the-human-ear.gif] Again, the tracking isn't 100% accurate, but I find the more I use them the better they are.

In my defense, I thought this was Soooooo far removed from your usual tasteful musical output that my curiosity got the better of me. M'lud.

what about some software like "Digital Ear" - about $90US. There might be something similar on the market that's a bit cheaper though. Fort hardware the cheapest I've seen is the Sonuus G2M, you might get lucky and pick one up off the 'Bay for not very much.

Most bridges share the same layout for the screws, so positioning it shouldn't be a problem. You can (or should) always check the intonation after you've fitted a new one. Be aware that under the bridge there's an unattached wire that seemingly does nothing except disappear into the control cavity - this is an earth wire and needs to be there. It's practically impossible to solder this wire to the bridge (which, in this instance acts like a mahoosive heatsink), so it's simply trapped betwixt body and bridge. Hey, it's good enough for Leo Fender...

yup, check your local crack-converters. If you've got documentary evidence (dated photos or similar) then you can plead your case to the old Bill if it turns up. I hope the scumbags who stole this get run over feet first.

I've got an 18v adapter knocking around somewhere, I think it's a standard 2.1mm Boss size barrel, negative ground. I use it to power my Aguilar Tone Hammer a while ago. You can have it for P and P if you like.

Lock function - really good idea! I wonder if that can be retro-fitted to EVERY guitar pedal to stop the tweaking inbetween songs?
