  1. Yeppers; that'll have some 'heft' behind it.
  2. This. You've got to be able to turn up (on time), do the job (well) and get out (on time) with the minimal amount of fuss to all concerned. And not be a twät. It requires a particular set of skills
  3. Let me see if I can get a friend to collect it.
  4. If it's any help I've had some great stuff from NW guitars over the years.
  5. As an ex-engineer, when you're buying tools 'Buy cheap, buy twice'. Even if you only use them once for one bass, then they'll hold their value and you'll be able to recoup some of the cost. Cheap tools just don't last.
  6. Yep. It’s definitely a ‘people’ profession. I’ve worked with some amazing musicians, but some of them only once…
  7. Yes, and we probably will again. It's all part of life's rich tapestry. I find stuff like this really interesting and educational though, especially when some of our better educated and more experienced posters dumb things down into lay terms; it's what keeps BC great.

Yes! Toxic fumes aside lead/tin is magic stuff! I trained myself to resolver using lead free as my sons were showing an interest in it, and I didn’t want to poison them slowly. I doubt I’ll go back to 60/40 now just because I’m used to lead free stuff now, but damn it was easy to work with!
  9. Daisy-chaining for two pedals is usually OK - just add up the current consumption of the two devices (it'll be underneath the pedals and given in milliamps (mA)), as long as you're not to pull too much current through the power supply then you should be OK... Edit: Just checked the specs and the Onespot delivers 1.7A (1700mA), which is plenty! According to their manuals the Spectradrive draws 250mA and the Polytune draws 45-50mA, so you're nowhere near the 1700mA limit! One caveat though is mixing analogue and digital devices from the same PSU can sometimes introduce noise, but I don't remember having that problem when I ran the onespot.
  10. 0 sold / 0 bought. I'm really happy with how my 3 bitsas turned out. I fear I may have to resign my commission as a BCer.

Nice. 555 as a charge pump? edit: just looked at the outside with two tubes sticking out of it. Durrrr 😞

The only difference between PCB and veroboard is that often a PCB can be made smaller - either electrons flow or they don't. The majority of my gigging board is done on veroboard, the only one that isn't is my Lovetone Meatball clone, and that's only because I couldn't be bothered with the masses of off-board wiring - four rotary switches and six pots (plus eight TRS sockets) was a bit too much for my patience...

This. There are very few components that are 'crucial' to the sound of a pedal - certain opamps (e.g. LM308 for RATs etc...)are sought after for their characteristics, often the same characteristics that made them obsolete in the first place (slew rate, noise etc...) and all the gunk about germanium transistors is a moot point, as they tend to be so leaky and susceptible to external factors (temperature variations etc) that it's a real crap shoot, and trying to build two identical devices with these components is like chasing smoke.
  14. Played double bass for a good friend's MA performance exam (she was the singer) after twätting my middle finger with a hammer the day before. I did not play to my full potential.
  15. Wishing you a swift and (more importantly) full recovery.
  16. I had one of these as my first 5-er way back when... fond memories!
