1. (sigh) nearly 2 months now - that's a bit more than 'the next few days'. Is this project still a going concern?
2. I've got a Vauxhall Corsa, will this fit in it?
3. Hello to a fellow Lancastrian, welcome on board. Paul.
4.
Are you using the BDDI, just to up the output voltage? or are you using it to shape your sound. If so why is the j-retro so valuable. T.
The BDDI has a couple of advantages (for me at least) it's powered by phantom power from the PA (fewer plugs is a good thing) and the 1/4" output can be set to line level even when the unit is bypassed, so yes, sometimes I use it just to boost the flat level from the bass. The East is great for having the tone controls at your fingers - the bright switch (pulling the treble knob up) is really useful for slap passages, and I don't have to bend down to play with the BDDI controls mid song. The East is also useful when I'm using someone else's amp ( shared kit at festivals etc), as I can get the sound that I want fairly quickly, which pleases everyone when changeover time is limited.
5.
A couple of times I've been tuning up between songs using a TU-2 stomp-box and forgotten to un-mute it when going for the opening note of the next song...
Didi that last week (except mine's a TU3. That's not important though, is it?).
6. well, it's here and it's not bad at all. The stacked knobs are a bit of a PITA but it's not a deal-breaker. Everything feels rock solid too, no wobbles or loose parts at all - I'll try to get some recording done over the next few days.
7.
Of course you could always run a pre-amp pedal like a Tech 21 VT Bass pedal into a power amp. But most poweramps weigh more than your Genz anyway.
+1, I've got East pre's on both of my Jazzes and use a Sansamp BDDI between the basses and a hulking big Ampeg SVP1500 to drive a Hydrive 4x10. Great sound. Heavy though...
8.
Cant believe this bunch havent turned up in this thread - criminal that!
Beat me to it. End of discussion.
9. would you be prepared to split the two?
10. I'd take this like a shot, but I've already got one. Have a bump on me for a superb sounding cab - plus it'll take whatever you can throw at it.
11.
Now that you mention it..............
wasn't you was it?
12. Is that how you playy (sic) a Ricky then, I reckon I've been doing it all wrong!
13. It'd look something like this: Playing music back particularly strumming patterns through software never sounds like it's played i real life. Notation is useful as a way to remind yourself of the main accents and pattern of a rhythm guitar part, but it's pretty limited in this respect unless you want to start notating the absolute tiniest detail - that sort of score would be very accurate but virtually unreadable to the vast majority of musicians. You could try using a 'shuffle' groove preset (if your DAW has them) to add a bit more 'life' into it though.
14. Hi All, I've got one of these: and I'm looking to fix it up because it sounds brilliant. I need some replacement 'Stocko' headers to connect 4 of the channels to the main busses. Anyone know where to get the 'Stocko' ones from? My searches are so far drawing a blank. Cheers, Paul
15.
[s][/s]
Win. OR you could borrow Waynepunkdude's [s]Tardis[/s] Corsa.
16. Yeah, £30 for a cast case and a switch isn't too bad though even if I gut it to use for something else.
17.
as al heeley said i'd imagine it has similar innards to the harley benton, beta alvin (?) and glx models. i've got a glx bass limiter and it does the job just fine
Yup, could have bought exactly the same model with a slightly different case with either GLX or Beta Alvin labels on. I got the 'chord' because it had free delivery.
18. I was browsing the internet last night and came across this: It's a shade over £30 and arrives tomorrow. Never heard of them before, but for that money it should be alright for a backup. Looks very close to the Boss ODB3. Report to follow...
19.
My Granda kept it under the seats incase the engine packed whilst fishing.
My gran kept something similar under the bed.
