1.
Lack of "proper" gear has never stood in the way of a good musical idea for me.
Absolutely, more power to your elbow!
2. being a guitarist is a mistake.
3. Lots of interest but nothing firmed up yet. Still up for sale.
4. sweepable mid frequency to cut or boost is a brilliant feature, also a 'get out of jail' switch, should your battery fail...
5. You're spot on with your assumption - the key is D major. Take ten house points and a week in Bali.
6. what, damp shoes or wet farts? Actually, I don't want to know anymore.
7. "I don't want any bass in my stage monitor" has to be amongst the worst thing I've ever heard. This chap obviously didn't know how awesome I was. Ah well, his loss.
8. Erm, for that much money I could have an extra pair of ears grafted onto my head.
9.
Get a J Retro for it.
True dat. EVERY bass needs an East pre, even my toddler's plastic one and my nephew's 'guitar hero' thing have them in - they simply the BALLS. I keep trying to persuade my keyboard player to put one in his Korg thingy.
10. Oooh, mixing on DT100s? I reckon if you try the DT150s you'll notice a BIG difference. DT100s are found in loads of studios up and down the country because they're great for recording vocals due to practically no overspill back into the mic, but personally I don't think they're detailed enough for mixing. That said, if they work for you, then more power to your elbow As you were.
11.
I kinda like it, always loved the ric..thanks to Chris Squire...until I played one..ugh!
Ditto, I borrowed a '75 fireglow 4001 from a mate at work to record a 4 minute track on an old band's EP. Sounded incredible through the Ampeg stack I was rocking at the time, but i less playable instrument I have yet to find. Couldn't get more than 3 bars in without f***ing everything up. Beautiful, sexy, horrific instrument.
12. To be honest, If it's really THAT collectible and one of your terms of sale is that all potential buyers should provide evidence of 'worthiness' to actually own it, then I'd say he's foolish to list it on the bay. Surely a rare instrument shop / specialist forum would be far more appropriate?
13. Sounds like a separate filter and synth unit, or just a really good synth unit (Chunk systems / deep impact etc). It is pretty irritating though...
14. Due to recent upgrade I'm selling my Blade B15 tone circuit. Controls are as follows - Master volume, blend between neck and bridge pup and master tone control. The nice thing about this is the mid boost circuit that's engaged by pulling the tone knob up. Requires a 9v battery, but the rest of the time the bass operates as a passive bass, so you've got the best of both worlds. Gain/cut for the mid circuit os via an internal trim pot on the tiny circuit board. Very clean, compact circuitry. SOLD
15. Yes, yes it is. Needs a bit more time than I've got at the moment, but great link, thanks for posting.
16. Ah, the old headphone debate. we thrashed this one about a little while ago - the link's here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/161479-new-to-the-recording-lark-what-headphones-would-you-recommend/ Hope this helps, Paul
17. Living in Ramsbottom, but work in Accrington or Manchester, depending on what colour socks I've got on.
18. fiver via paypal for you to NOT do that!
19. More photos available on request, can probably get some audio samples put up somewhere too.
20. This is a Kawai 100P analogue synthesizer. Late 1970s with 32 preset voices. It is monophonic and has a lovely glissando / portamento control for added expression. It’s a good exmple of the first generation of ‘touch sensitive’ keyboards, this technology was later adopted by other manufacturers. This touch sensitivity means that effects can be added (such as pitch bend, vibrato, brilliance etc…) can be added single-handedly whilst playing, which yields some very good sounds. The Kawai 100P will also hold a single note indefinitely, and has a ‘repeat function’ to allow for pulsing basslines to be created with one finger. This particular model has had the main PCB recapped to improve tuning stability. The keyboard still needs some fine-tuning ( there are 4 trim pots on the main board which need adjusting, but it shouldn’t require any more soldering), but unfortunately at the moment I simply don’t have the time to do this. That said, these pots are easily accessible by removing two scres from the main case. The slider cap is missing from the main volume control and the case has a few scuffs on the corners, but other than that it’s in good nick considering its age. Up for sale again as the original deal fell through. £75 for a quick sale? Probably best for the buyer to collect as it's built like a tank, and weighs about the same.
