1. Tip it upside down in a champagne bucket?
2. I've chopped and changed loads since coming on BC, but I've not even thought about getting rid of my Blade. Since that's the bit I feel when I play it's my most important piece of kit. Dirtboxes, wobblyboxes, filters and loud (really loud) amps are nice, but I don't really have the same connection with them as my bass. Bottle's sig says it all - " This is my bass, there are many like it, but this one is mine.
3.
I went for Percy Heath. I've no idea who any of them are but he sounds like the sort of chap who likes a pint of mild and doing crosswords.
Percy Heath is an infamous location for dogging and such, isn't it? getting coat and legal brief.

5. FX25b still available?

MXR M80 DI PEDAL

+1, a really clean DI/EQ box, but the drive channel is definitely overcooked. Judicious use of the blend knob is key when firing it up.
7.

Hmm, would you mind stepping out of your vehicle and blowing into this tube please sir?
8.
Duff McKagan - immersed in a band with Axl Rose & Slash, it`s so easy (ker-ching) to underestimate his worth to the band, and his bass-playing ability. Great runs, and a good sense of melody.
True dat. I transcribed some GnR lines for a student once, really surprised to learn just how good Duff's lines really are on "Appetite for Destruction". I shall be giving that one a spin later on today.
9. PM'ed regarding Octabass.
10. Under-rated players? Erm, most of us on here?
11. Another +1 for the East kit - honestly, it can change everything about the sound of your bass in a really positive way, or it can just add a tickle of whatever you fancy. My East pre is the single best thing I bought last year - superb.
12. Blimey Dave, your kitchen looks clean!
13. In a choice between the Adams and the KRKs I'd go for the Adams, just a personal preference, but I think the Adams have a clearer, less coloured sound. Also bear in mind the size of the room you're mixing in, A7s are lovely speakers, but can be a bit too much in a small box room due to the size of the woofer.
14. I've strung my fretless Jazz with these new Rotos and they're lovely. They've had a couple of outings, and they're really consistent, balanced strings. The tone is great and they respond well to different techniques (slap, harmonics etc.) Kudos to Rotosound for a well made set of strings (and also for letting us have them for free!). Happy bunny.
15. What do the knobs on the Wah do? upper and lower sweep frequencies?
16.
I've got the black 'russian' one .. it totally sucks out the bottom end.
Yeah, I've got mine in a looper because of this.
17. Lovely. Had one, but reverted to the reissued Russian Muff. Just preferred it; that's a really good fuzz for the money though. LONG LIVE THE DIRTBOX.
18. I just discovered "Blue Trane" last week. I love Jazz too - that's a superb album.
19. Just played mine 'in anger' for the first time at rehearsal tonight. Awesome, exactly the sound I've been looking for (anyone who's followed my activities on the 'for sale' section knows that last year was a bit of a quest) for ages. Fretless Jazz bass -- Tech 21 XXL -- Sansamp BDDI -- Ampeg SVP1550 -- Hartke 410 Hydrive cab. Just lovely and dirty, but enough mids to detect pitch. I picked mine up fort £50, and it's brilliant - even though I paid slightly over the odds.
20. I'll echo the observations about reading on a five, not only do they allow for extended range on gigs (esp. in more modern pop stuff etc...) it also frees me up when I'm playing further up the neck. On a four you've got a bit of a shift to go from C on the E string down to G on the E string, but on a fiver it's all in one position. Simples. Fiver = essential. For me anyway.
21. My cab's on castors and standing on a small, hollow stage. I went for the alternative option of filling the cavity under the stage with old duvets etc... it worked for my drummer
22.
You can't beat a nice defined bottom end...... WELL... someone had to do it
I beg to differ, that's one of the better things to do with said bottom...
23.
Zappa clearly had his head screwed on
Amen brother!
24. Absolution is IMHO the best thing they ever did.
