  1. I gigged up and down the country with the equivalent (same head and cab as separates) for years. Great compact rig!

Changing the taper of your potentiometer will do that - Log pots (denoted A) will bunch all of the change at the clockwise end of the turn. Linear pots (B) have a linear change and finally Anti-Log (C) have most of the value change bunched up at the counter-clockwise end. just replace the current potentiometer with one of the same value but different taper to tailor it more to your liking.
  3. One of the best versions I've heard of Zappa's favourite piece. To be fair, not many bands have the inclination (or skill) to pull off a lot of Zappa's stuff.
  4. I can’t believe we’re 3 pages in and nobody’s mentioned ‘getting the Britneys in’ Britney Spears - beers.
  5. depends whereabout in the circuit they are, if they're after the gain stage then they could be clippers - anti-parallel is the classic choice for doing this.
  6. Roger Waters can have an (dis)honourable mention in this thread, as he's ruining himself without any external influence.
  7. Polyester box caps and a Ruby tube - they've not skimped on components, I hope the power supply/regulator is up to snuff though.
  8. I actually quite like this. The bonus of this is that, should you decide that you really can't live with the 'bite', there's enough wood left over to cut it off and still make a more aesthetically pleasing shape at the end.
  9. I'd argue that this one was already ruined before removing a letter.
  10. It seems the ability to afford a Wishbass is no indication of the ability to actually play the fücker!
  11. Overdrive is a weird one. I find the more I use, the less of it I blend in. A 'light touch' (moss is just starting to form on the cusp of each freshly formed note) means I'll probably use a 100% wet sound, but settings that have a bit more dirt (fungal spores now airborne/wire-haired terrier) right up to just plain nasty (Lemmy having a shave with an angle grinder) are usually about 50/50.
  12. Me too. I don't need one, couldn't find a use for one, and probably (almost certainly) can't afford one - I wouldn't say no though.
  13. Kill your television - Ned’s Atomic Dustbin
  14. Also, check your cables, input and output sockets on pedals, power supply to pedals - check everything from the bass onwards in your signal chain. P.S. the EQ section on that amp is a Fender style tone stack, I seem to recall that the mids are 'cut only' - meaning when the mid knob is up at full, then you're not boosting any frequencies, merely not removing any. I think 'flat' was Bass at 10 o'clock, Mids on full, and treble at 10 o'clock.
  15. Seriously though, this thread puts me in mind of a (perhaps apophrycal) story of great cellist Pablo Casals who continued to practice daily at age 80(or even 90), and when he was asked why he was so diligent he replied "I'm starting to see some improvement."
  16. End of the tax year ideally, saves on accountancy fees.
