http://darkglasselectronics.com/products/microtubes-b3k/ refund available too..
Yowsers! that's a GREAT pedal. Anyone want to buy a kidney? It's had a fair bit of abuse, but still works.

Delay!

Every guitarist I've ever worked with has had a built-in delay function - they get the joke 6 seconds after everyone else... which is odd, because when they play they're always racing ahead. Go figure.
3.
Scratchplate - well either black or tort will set the bass off nicely, in my opinion.
In full agreement with Lozz here; I've got a bitsa P bass in the same colour with a tort scratchplate - it's the balls. Modding a bass is a great way to learn about how everything works, and can be very beneficial, but if you already love the bass then what needs changing? Is it simply an experiment (in which case try it with a less-favoured bass) or do you have a sound in mind that this bass isn't currently providing?
4. Lighten up fellas! I've just had a skim through this, and quite liked it. Granted, RHCP aren't the band that we started out with, but neither are Metallica, the Rolling Stones, the Smashing Pumpkins, Take That, U2, The Who, R.E.M., Jamiroquai, Green Day, AC/DC etc... but you know what, people and bands change and evolve. RHCP have obviously moved on from "Mother's Milk", but if that's your preferred "era" then why not just listen to that album or others like it? We can't ( and shouldn't) expect musicians to live in a little plastic bubble and make the same album every three years or so, surely that's a bit too possessive? Sorry to have a bit of a rant, but we have all developed as writers/players in the last 20 years, and we've probably all listened to our early stuff and thought "what were we thinking?" why should the Chillis be any different - they're just people, the same as us, trying to find an appropriate musical outlet through which to channel our experiences. If you don't like it then vote with your wallet and don't buy it. Why do we need a thread that pillories an album before it's even been released?

The old ones, when they were painstakingly smelted by the hands of wizened craftsmen who only used steel unearthed by their own bare hands, sustained longer, had purer tone and made you more attractive to the opposite sex.
I touched one once and it cured my scrofula!

Bass DI

Just took delivery of my Dave Hall DI EQ pedal today. Seriously good little box, highly recommended.
7. Bought a DHA EQ DI from James. Arrived safe and sound and quickly. killer piece of kit too.
8. I bought an Ampeg power amp from Gary a while ago, which is brilliant. He's since done all the running around chasing Parcelfarce for compensation when they damaged the flightcase. Gary is an all round good egg, and I have no hesitation in recommending him as a BCer to deal with.
9. What about the H&S issues here. You should have warned people that they "may contain nuts". Can't be too careful.
10. I reckon you'd get more "mojo" to your sound if you move the reel to reel machine forward a bit. And everything else back a bit... Track sounds great though, nice "mash up".
11.
I started with this I switched the neck to a 62RI. I've since changed the pickup, addded the ashtrays, changed the nut, replaced the pickguard....
Surely that makes it closer to your second bass than your first?
12. I'd say do it. I quite like the look of them, and may just put one on my fretless P. I couldn't really put one on my J as I play up that end quite a bit. also - satin sheets? do you work in a brothel?
13. Just got back from Chicken-sitting at my brother's, and my Gravity Picks were waiting for me when I opened the front door. Once again Mel delivers outstanding service and products - a highly recommended BC'er
14. I'd probably have bought a Jazz / Jazz derivative first off and then never bothered buying any more basses. When I started playing I had a good job with lots of overtime and lived with my parents. I used to think that Fender / traditional basses were for old men. This was something of an error on my part. I'd probably have bought an all valve Ampeg rig too, before the build quality nose-dived.
15. 3 hours is pushing it a bit, certainly if your clients are kept waiting. I've drummed for gigs when I've had literally 20 mins to unload, set up and count everyone in (early Sat Nav mishap), whoever's causing the delay needs a bit of a friendly prod. Generally it's the guitarist who fiddles about with FX settings. Kindly inform them that that's what the EQ on the amp is for - use that to 'tune' the rig to the room.

Bass DI

I've used the MXR for a while now, and until recently have been very happy with it. The distortion circuit is pretty good, but it's not possible to bypass the "color" (mid scoop) when using this channel. I've just sold it, and am expecting a Dave Hall DHA EQ-DI, which doesn't have a distortion circuit, but is supposed to be a really clean DI with a very musical EQ section. I'll let you know how I get on if you still need the info.

SOLD

Hi All, I'm currently selling my MXR M80 Bass DI+. Practically brand new condition, with original box (scuffed, but hey, it's cardboard), and velcro tape underneath for easy mounting. £75 posted to anywhere on your mainland British Isles. SOLD
19. Even though I've got a lot of love for Protools and Cubase I'm not 'up to date' with either pieces of software. I still occasionally use a 4-track. Do I win a small, outdated prize?
20. I've got two basses at the moment. MY Blade 5 string cost me roughly £600, and it does me proud everywhere I go - gigs, studios etc... So I'd be tempted to say that the bracket that this falls into is still a pretty good one. I also have a fretless P-bass bitsa that I put together for roughly £100. It's my 'go to' bass, as the playability is just sooooo good. What we have here is the principle of "commodity fetishism" played out on an internet forum. To summarise it, we (as capitalist consumers) are conditioned to believe that something that if option A (bass, car, PC etc...) costs more than option B, then option A must be better than option B. I'm not really a Marxist, but I am sympathetic to a fella called Theodore Adorno who was. He wrote lots of papers/essays on popular culture and its place in society, and talks a lot of sense. Ears don't lie folks, Joe Meek pegged it right - "if it sounds right, it IS right".
21.
The cloth, with pedals still attached, came out of mine last week when I tried to remove one pedal.
Superglue. Because glue can be super, can't it?.
