2.
What the hell is that ?
Les Claypool's "rainbow bass" made by Carl Thompson. G.A.S.
3. I wouldn't want one though, they only do 'dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum' for 30 years.
4. I only want one choice, this: Mmmmmmm.
5.
http://www.wah-wah.co.uk/ True Bypass and circuit mods on there under DIY resources. Not tried any of them but I've got a standard guitar cry baby sitting around doing nothing.
I've done the majority of mods on this site and they are all kosher. I've TB'ed and revoiced my guitar wah following these instructions and can vouch for them.

PRS

Not for me. It's a real 'guard's parcel' and has more knobs than an estate agents convention. I'll pass.
7. A famous bass player once told me "if you're thinkin', it's stinkin'" I reckon he was right.
8. Sorry, I didn't really answer your question. I'd personally do both.
9. The valves will colour the sound in a valve pre. With the exception of a 'tuner out' all of the outputs will be 'valve coloured'. What you won't get with valve pre's (DI outs etc...) is the output transformer working its mojo on your sound - you'll need to mic up for this.
10. A small threat board? No good to me, I like LARGE threat boards! My basses have things like " I'm a punch you in the throat and shank ya!" engraved between the frets. I wouldn't play a bass that didn't have the threat of physical violence (or similar) somewhere on it. I'll stop now.
11. Hi all, I've got the following to sell: Boss CE2B vintage chorus pedal - £40 posted EHX Memory Boy - £45 posted Both have the original boxes, and the MB comes with its own (unused) PSU. They're both used, and the MB has a few scratches to the top, but still works perfectly. Cheers, Paul Edit: Both sold Photos added.
bump still for sale
PM'ed
13.
My faves are EV RE-20, Sennheiser MD421,
+1. The RE20 is a great mic with no proximity effect (it can be practically up against the grille without over-emphasising the bottom end). The MD421s will take anything that you can throw at them and deliver a good sound. I've used them on everything from drums, banjo, trombone etc... I'd still recommend a quality DI though.
14. Sad to see this great brand putting profit before quality. I've only ever had positive experiences of Ampeg stuff - but it's been decades since I bought any. Nt surprising that Billy Sheehan has dropped them.
15.
What a wonderful picture
This happens more than you'd think. I'm endorsing by Sue Ryder basses
16. Cheers for the replies guys, plenty of food for thought. I'm tempted by the EBS Triple trem doohickey, as the sound clips I've heard are closest to the sound in my head. Of course (GAS being what it is) it's not a final decision...
17.
I was in a ska band a few years ago and the drummer hadn't got his GCSE's!
...that's not unusual for drummers. Back to the OP, just do it. Playing with other musicians is a real education, and you can learn loads from even one rehearsal. On the flip side to this, you'll probably have an approach to music that's different from theirs, and they can pick stuff up from you. One bit of advice is to listen to each other. I've played with quite a few different musos and some players treat the first rehearsal as a speed/technique-fest to establish a hierarchy or to 'prove themselves'. I tend not to ask these ones back.
18. Hey Y'all. What do people recommend for some trem / leslie loveliness. I'd be using it mainly on bass chords high up the neck. Currently I've got a Boss CE2B and an EHX Memory Boy - which re fine, but the CE2B is a bit limited when it comes to extreme modulation and the MB is a little bit noisier than I'd like. Any suggestions?
19. I think these guys are the only authorised Ampeg spares people in the UK Panic Music. They're not the cheapest, but they really know their stuff. From experience they've been really helpful in sorting my old Ampeg kit out. Also you might want to drop Watford Valves a line if you're retubing, again not the cheapest, but worth the premium for knowledge/advice and speed of delivery.
20. Ask yourself this question: If you had a bass worth this much would you trust someone else to ebay it for you? Something doesn't stack up with this, I'd proceed with extreme caution.
21. I used to have one of these (way back when) and absolutely loved it. Gigged it up and down the country and it never let me down. Good EQ section too. Long-winded bump on me.
22. My black face Ampeg SVP PRO. Lovely. Everything else I've sold / replaced over the years, but I've had that bad boy for nearly 15 years through thick and thin. A keeper for sure.
