  1. I actually quite like this. The bonus of this is that, should you decide that you really can't live with the 'bite', there's enough wood left over to cut it off and still make a more aesthetically pleasing shape at the end.
  2. I'd argue that this one was already ruined before removing a letter.
  3. It seems the ability to afford a Wishbass is no indication of the ability to actually play the fücker!
  4. Overdrive is a weird one. I find the more I use, the less of it I blend in. A 'light touch' (moss is just starting to form on the cusp of each freshly formed note) means I'll probably use a 100% wet sound, but settings that have a bit more dirt (fungal spores now airborne/wire-haired terrier) right up to just plain nasty (Lemmy having a shave with an angle grinder) are usually about 50/50.
  5. Me too. I don't need one, couldn't find a use for one, and probably (almost certainly) can't afford one - I wouldn't say no though.
  6. Kill your television - Ned’s Atomic Dustbin
  7. Also, check your cables, input and output sockets on pedals, power supply to pedals - check everything from the bass onwards in your signal chain. P.S. the EQ section on that amp is a Fender style tone stack, I seem to recall that the mids are 'cut only' - meaning when the mid knob is up at full, then you're not boosting any frequencies, merely not removing any. I think 'flat' was Bass at 10 o'clock, Mids on full, and treble at 10 o'clock.
  8. Seriously though, this thread puts me in mind of a (perhaps apophrycal) story of great cellist Pablo Casals who continued to practice daily at age 80(or even 90), and when he was asked why he was so diligent he replied "I'm starting to see some improvement."
  9. End of the tax year ideally, saves on accountancy fees.
  10. I’ve got a preference for EHX when it comes to modulation (their small stone and blond are my faves), but don’t really use a flanger, so can’t really comment. I’ve had the TC thunderstorm though, and found that it was really flexible, just not the sound I had in my head - turns out that was a phaser.
  11. One of the (few) benefits of having to gig sat down is that my board is right in front of me, and I act as a sort of warning cone for my 'trip hazard'.
  12. I would have, purely for THAT Jackson 5 line, but my covid brain wouldn’t let me remember him!
  13. A genuine tube pedal that I made myself. That’s no help to anyone else, so I’ll say Dave Hall VT1eq or the Blowerbox Idiotbox - like a low-tuned rat on steroids, basically because that’s what it is.
  14. I've found that using Rotosound flats (SM77) then drop a gauge (105 to 45 drops to 100 to 40) for the same tension. Other brands will be the same tension at the same diameter. Thomastik Infeld tend to be a little on the 'wobbly' side, so the same diameter strings will feel looser nd lower tension.
