This. There are very few components that are 'crucial' to the sound of a pedal - certain opamps (e.g. LM308 for RATs etc...)are sought after for their characteristics, often the same characteristics that made them obsolete in the first place (slew rate, noise etc...) and all the gunk about germanium transistors is a moot point, as they tend to be so leaky and susceptible to external factors (temperature variations etc) that it's a real crap shoot, and trying to build two identical devices with these components is like chasing smoke.

Played double bass for a good friend's MA performance exam (she was the singer) after twätting my middle finger with a hammer the day before. I did not play to my full potential.

you know, it's much easier to learn to play the synthesiser...... not as much fun though.

I put my P&C in the effects loop of my Meatball for some great synth tones. Not much use on its own though.

Stinkfoot - Zappa

These two are very different beasts. The RS77 are much higher tension than the Nexus strings; if you're going to move to 77s from the nexus then drop a gauge e.g. .105" to .100", that will mitigate the increased stiffness.

I always find that live albums are the best way to discover what a band is capable of. Good suggestion.
