  1. Gave up sigs twenty years ago. some of them were indeed ‘monsters’, and occasionally I think about starting again, but it’s prohibitively expensive these days.

    SVP 11

I've had both - the SVP II is a wonderful preamp, but it won't do dirt. The SVP PRO definitely WILL do filth. Both have the ultra low/high and bass, mid(s) and treble controls with line and DI outs, and the switchable graphic equaliser channel, but the SVP PROs have always been a bit noisy on the preamp outputs, whereas the SVP II was lovely and quiet.
  3. Not just a bass preamp/DI either; works great for guitars of any stripe.
  4. I find these are MUCH more useful than the BDDI pedals.

    Ampeg SVP

One of the best bass rounds I ever had was a 70's Ric into an SVP through a power amp and into a 4x10 cabinet. I need another lie-down just thinking about it!
  6. Also the Huge capacitors in there will store voltage (in lethal amounts) for ages. Unless you know how to properly discharge the stored voltage in those caps then get you it to a pro.
  7. You’d have to be going at a fair rate of knots to move a TE combo!

    Cab Riser

    Anyone else seeing this...?
  9. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. /thread.
  10. Yes, something that powerful in an MS60B size would be ideal for me. Until then I’ll keep my MS60B.
  11. Overdrive - (as one might imagine) putting too much signal through part of a circuit - thus overdriving it. Crucially overdrive is dynamic, so the more a player 'digs in', then more dirt you get. Distortion - Constant filth, regardless of player's dynamics. Fuzz - boosts the signal to the extent that the wave is practically 'squared off' instead of a sine wave (for example), it also compresses the signal something crazy.
  12. That bass is a red herring; it’s another filter! 😉
  13. Are you sure about that, I’ve heard some of them…
  14. 30 years in the bathroom - ‘stuffies
  15. If you put the ‘line selector’ effect as the first then whatever you put after that are all controlled by the line selector - it turns everything after it either on or off at the same time.
  16. Two hedgehogs trying to make a third in a bath of warm swarfega.
  17. The back of the pot is just a large, conductive surface area to solder too - in theory you could solder ALL of the ground wires together at the output socket, but it's just less fiddly to have a flat surface to solder to than trying to do it on its side as the socket.
  18. It was a condition of entry to the venue; most places have them. Security were quite insistent about it I recall.
  19. I reckon Airbourne could dep pretty well for AC/DC, and Greets Van Fleet for Led Zep 😉. seriously though, when Robbie left Take That my request for a 20% ticket rebate fell on deaf ears.
  20. Madonna’s Immaculate Collection. A pretty apt description I ‘d say.
