1. Some British people are dim, statistically that’s a given, as are some Americans. My point was that implying that all Americans were dumb is prejudiced
2. Wow. 2022 is off to a flying start - two racially abusive threads already. Come on people, we're better than this.
3. look at the current draw of the Fender Downtown pedal too - it's not just about the voltage. If the Downtown tries to pull too much current from the phantom power then it can damage the mixer. The manual doesn't mention phantom power anywhere - it just labels the XLR as an output, and the specs in the back just mention 9vdc 400mA barrel adaptor, so I reckon you're good.
4. Rotosound 88 Trubass strings - cut for 4 in a row 34" 'Fender' style bass. used exclusively on my p bass for only a few weeks; change in musical direction means that they're not the sound I'm looking for. Price includes delivery to mainland UK addresses. now sold
5. Buying kit doesn’t count if it’s for work surely? Where’s the fun in that?
6. Why does it have to be 3m? Why not run a mains extension (much more durable) and plug into that?
7. Is it… (looks around conspiratorially and adopts a more ‘sotto voce’ delivery) one of *his*…?
8. Ok, who pulled the scab off this?
9. Fly me to the moon - Ol' red eyes.
10. Various bass book for sale: Ed Friedland - Building Walking Basslines - book and CD £8 Josquin des Pres - J.S. Bach for Bass - book and CD £10 Bob Gallway - J.S. Bach for Electric Bass - £5
11. Jesus! These put me in mind of 'Sid's room' in Toy Story. And not in a good way.
12. Live at the Greek - Jimmy Page & the Black Crowes
13. This. I'm another exponent of the Chambers school of walking
14. I've jut looked for the specs on this pedal and it confirms what I thought - the pedal drops the supply down to 12v for the tube (any more would overheat them), so (assuming it's a 7812 voltage regulator) as long as it's at least 15v and can deliver the required mount of current (300mA) then there's no real benefit to running it at 18v, the 15 one will be fine. Congrats on a great little unit, and even greater spouse.
15. If you feel you must spend some money on it then LaBella LowTension Flats are amazing strings...
16. The blowerbox idiotbox certainly doesn’t need a clean blend, neither does the coloursound bass fuzz. they ain’t cheap though!
17. You say that like it’s a bad thing.
18. What a lot of people don't realise about the EHX MS is that it's also a good little envelope filter and/or octaves as well - just depends how you set it. I loved mine, but have gone digital for my synth sounds, purely because of being able to store presets.
19. Absolutely these two. This is (IMHO) the best FNM album by a country mile. You’re spot on with MF on the Rancid album too.
20. Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors - 1st solo album from Fish. John Giblin’s incredible playing on this album always manages to serve the song, but at the same time isn’t shy of being more than accompaniment. Sailing the Seas of Cheese - Primus. see all of the above, then forget it.
21. Mmm, a packet of strings, a fresh roll of solder, and a couple of bags of electronic components. I've got off lightly this year. Down side is that I've had one (1) gig due to long covid.
22. FX25, the old ‘speaker-killer’. That was my first, many moons ago.
23. Yes, and nor should you.
