  1. That's like two swanny whistles attached to the same hoover. Christ on a bike!
  2. Ah, Godwin's law strikes again.

that looks like a logical way to start. Solder the smallest (i.e. shortest in height from the board) components first - diodes, then resistors, then sockets, then blue 'box' capacitors and LED, electrolytic caps, then finally the pots. Make sure that the pots are turned to full counter-clockwise before you solder them so as to minimise the risk of excess heat damaging the internal track. Also, keep your soldering iron tip CLEAN!!!
  4. Can't attest to the quality of their Jazz bodies, but their Jazz necks are beautiful - I doubt you'll have any issues.
  5. Bought an ashtray from Martyn, arrived promptly and well packaged, also it’s really shiny!! 🤩
  6. I think I've got that version on vinyl somewhere.
  7. Jazz bass, Ampeg. did I miss anything? Don’t think so.
  8. They're amazing. I'd still have mine if I hadn't just made something that was very similar, but also had a blend.
  9. Paradriver all the way for me, love it!
  10. Mine was a short scale Hohner Baron bass - black with a black neck and a black board. I think it was £70 in 1991. I defretted it and started to strip the body back to base wood for a change of scenery, only to realise that it was, in fact, made of chipboard. C'est la vie.
  11. Having just finished the new Jaco documentary I've picked up 'Teen Town' again. Nice little workout.
  12. Or if you don’t have one you could photocopy the back of the bass and use/send that off as a template.
  13. My personal favourite is the Chunk Systems Agent 00Funk. clone (if I could find an original I couldn’t afford it!).
  14. Jesus! Where to start?!? that gap at the neck joint? the ‘finger cutouts’ in the handle should’ve been on the opposite side, no? frets look really high too!
  15. This^ I had an ‘uncoloured’ rig for a while and was missing some ‘oomf’ from my sound; turns out that a (very much coloured) Ampeg cab was the missing ingredient. on paper an FRFR rig sounds great, but won’t be appropriate for every situation.
  16. I’ve never liked any of the P basses I’ve played over the years, until I layer one with flats. Mmmmm 😍
  17. That joint in the bottom left looks dicey at best. solder joints should be bright and shiny- are you using rosin cored solder or flux? Your iron might need the temperature adjusting too if possible - dull joints can be a sign that your iron is too hot. Best thing to do is remove all of the solder from the pot lugs, cut fresh ends on the wire, then twist and tin them. Insert both ends into the solder lug, then solder them both to the pot at the same time. Also, it’s worth putting a crocodile clip across on the lug you’re soldering as a heat sink so you don’t damage the pot with heat. Always turn pots to full counterclockwise before soldering them too - this reduces the risk of damaging the track inside with the 200 degree iron.. sorry if that’s a lot, I’m just sharing the wisdom of my years of building, and the stuff that I learnt the hard way when I was starting out.
  18. sadly we also have useless animals like Bungle Johnson who can't seem to stop breeding - so much so that it's now difficult to know to what extent he has been replicating his sociopathic DNA.
  19. Does ‘playing the first song of a live set with amp in standby’ count? Guilty as charged.
  20. Final price reduction bumperoo.
  21. Instrument level straight out of your pedals won’t be enough to feed a power amp input - you’ll need some sort of preamp to amplify the signal to line level.
