  1. There’s a Jam tribute act called ‘Small Weller’ doing the rounds too.
  2. These guys get my vote for best stage names: Ladies and germs, I give you GWAR Ben Eubanks -Johnny Slutman), Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus), Russ Bahorsky (Mr. Magico) Steve Douglas (Jaws of Death), Chris Bopst (Balsac) Sean Sumner (Hans Sphincter). As of Brockie's death in 2014, Gwar currently features no original members, with a lineup of rhythm guitarist Mike Derks (Balsac the Jaws of Death) drummer Brad Roberts (Jizmak Da Gusha, since 1989) lead guitarist Brent Purgason (Pustulus Maximus, since 2012) lead vocalist Mike Bishop (Blöthar the Berserker, since 2014) bassist Casey Orr (Beefcake the Mighty, most recently since 2019). There have been a few others in between these incarnations of the band...
  3. On the subject of The Eagles, I’m firmly in agreement with the Dude.
  4. When I used a compressor I always put it before the octaver, then the envelope to give them a decent chance at picking up the transient.
  5. Bowie. I’ve gigged a few of his songs, and they’re fun to play, but other than the handful of popular ones I’m not very au fait with his body of work.
  6. Patience, and something to hold the wires with are recommended too - either pliers or a ‘helping hand’ tool will be good. The wires get hot, and even with bass-player’s callouses it can be painful if you’re holding hot wire! Also, make a note (written diagram and/or photographs) of the original wiring - just in case... Wherever possible (and I speak from experience) do each wire at a time - you don’t want a situation where you’ve got a fistful of different wires, a board full of empty solder pads, and no idea where each wire is supposed to go!
  7. I can do both, but I find that I remember things better when I work them out by ear - I suppose subconsciously I don’t think I need to remember it if it’s written down somewhere!
  8. I always thought that was intentional.
  9. If you’ve had both covid vaccinations then you’re already 5G ready, and just need a receiver- provided you’re not wearing a tinfoil hat...
  10. Learn your E minor pentatonic scale, and E blues - that’s what almost every track on that album is based off. They’ll probably ask you about this, so be prepared. E minor pentatonic (5 notes) - E, G, A, B, D, E E Blues: E, F#, G, A, A#, B, C, D, E wouldn’t hurt to be able to do these across 2 octaves, and in a couple of different keys too, just in case. Edit: if you’re playing Bombtrack then you can already play an F# blues scale! don’t sweat it, and the best of British to you!

    Zoom models

I decided to spring for an Ms60b, having had one before. I’ve played through a b1-four, but found some of the synths were missing, and it didn’t sound great. I run mine through a blend pedal, so all of my patches are 100% effect and no clean signal at all; and blending and phase problems are sorted out by my looper. It’s perhaps the smallest multi FX on the market, fits well on my board, and sounds good. Prior to this I was experimenting with a line 6 M5, which sounded amazing, but the synths were a bit weak. Everything else about the M5 was great - being able to assign any parameter to the expression pedal and having a dedicated ‘tap tempo’ button is a big plus in my book, but ultimately I was only using about 10% f what it was capable of, and it had a significantly larger footprint than the MS60B.
  12. I thought he was quite keen on peace though?
  13. Thoughts? https://apple.news/AaOVK3q7uRuyRqg12BRXrew
  14. If you want small, then a couple of Zoom MS60Bs should cover it!
  15. That’s just nit-picking though...
  16. Bon Scott comes in a bar or two early on ‘it’s a long way to the top’ - funny thins is, I don’t hear it on every system, only in good quality headphones.
  17. A much better live album than 'Celebration Day'.
  18. 'No Quarter' for me - favourite Zep tune by a country mile.
  19. Best sansamp ever - I haven’t found a sound source that can’t be improved by one of these magic boxes!
  20. I’ve tried this, but find that when I play live (remember doing that?) I get excited and really dig in, so end up adjusting stuff on the fly! It’s a great way to break the back of it though.
