Whenever I've done remote recording I've always recorded at least 3 tracks simultaneously and sent them all to the engineer - 1) Bass straight from DI box. 2)Bass direct from pedal board. 3)Bass DI from tube preamp (with effects). Track 1 is a safety net, in case there's a change to the track later the doesn't need overdrive etc... Speaking as a producer, it's always better to have tracks that aren't needed than not enough!

I’ve done something similar to my MS60B so that I can use the ‘tap tempo’ function remotely. It’s ‘squeaky bum time’ when you do the drilling, as the inside is *very* snug, but measure twice, cut once!

Up for sale was my DHA VT1 bass overdrive/preamp pedal. in excellent condition and fully working. This ticks multiple boxes as an overdrive pedal, rehearsal headphone tool, bass preamp, and valve DI box. an amazing sounding piece of kit with a recent (4 months) retube with a JJ ecc83 tube - obviously it’s not had much gig use in the interim, so it’s just nicely burned in. I have a few approaches to this - a) just play the bassline - embrace the space. b) play the bassline up an octave and get some more kick from the drummer. c) effects- overdrive, octave etc can all thicken up your sound d) busier bassline - chords/double stops etc any combination of these will work. -
Nearly finished all of my veroboard a for an effect I’ve been planning for a while; valve overdrive (with bipolar 12v supply) with a 3 band EQ, clean blend and an active tilt Eq on the clean side… will be boxing it up this weekend… … the plan was to sound like a DHA, but take up less space and be a touch more versatile. I’ll let you know.

For me they’re in the same category as PRS guitars - bankers’ guitars. If you’re dropping 5k+ on an instrument, then chances are you’re NOT a pro musician! 😄

A large wavy rim forstner bit for clearing out the majority of the wood in things like pickup routs, control cavities and neck pockets is recommended too.
