  1. Ooh, so whoever buys this can ‘self isolate’ for a fortnight?
  2. I like the two ‘mini cows’ either side of it, looks like it’s got its own backup singers.
  3. No, but there’s a guy in the pub who’s selling one like that...
  4. No harm, no foul. Replacing broken stuff gets a ‘pass’ I think.
  5. I’ve always preferred Dunlop’s to Schallers. Sure, you might need to drill a little bit deeper to fi them to your bass, but it’s not exactly a ‘faff’ is it?
  6. There's LOADS of Safeways out of Salford - nearest one being Manchester Deansgate. as far as I know the only Safeway IN Salford is just off Regents Road.
  7. Obvious place to start would be ‘kind of blue’ by Miles Davis, in fact I’d recommend any Miles album with Paul Chambers on bass, but that’s just me. Billie Holliday’s ‘songs for distingue lovers’ is a great album too, as the mix is great, and it’s not difficult to hear what the bass is doing and how it works with everything else.
  8. I’d be willing to pay extra for a bass that was guaranteed to have never been touched, let alone played by either Simmons or Sixx. That’s just me though.
  9. Brian Wampler (Wampler pedals) wrote a book which explains what the components do, and then has a couple of hundred pages of instructions on how to modify popular pedals (mostly Boss stuff). It’s well worth a read if you fancy getting your iron hot and having a go. I think I’ve got it as a pdf somewhere.
  10. Back story - I've just replaced the motherboard in my MacBook Pro and was in the process of reinstalling all of my plugins when my system crashed and I had to reinstall the OS from scratch. During the first bout of maintenance I'd recovered the licenses from Waves Central, as they'd disappeared from my system in the interim - don't know how or why. When I tried to relicense them after the OS reinstall I was told that they were 'not recoverable', as I'd already recovered them once - to the HDD that crashed and was wiped. I emailed tech support and had this response: "As you already used the License Recovery option once this year, and our company policy allows only one license recovery per year, I would like to forward a request to our higher management. Note that I will be able to forward the request only for the licenses that are covered by the Waves Update Plan coverage. To forward this, please provide me with the following: The reason why the first License Recovery took place. The reason why you need to use the License Recovery again. Any proof of purchase for the new Logic Board such as invoice/receipt. As only your version 11 licenses are covered by the Waves Update Plan, once you will renew Waves Update Plan coverage for your version 9 and 10 licenses, you will be eligible for updating it to the latest version. This will register a new V11 license to your account with one license recovery option to the license. Once renewing the Waves Update Plan, please refer to our Install & Activate Products article and follow the steps provided to install your new version 11 plugins." So basically it'll cost me $240 to update my licenses to the current version, and then I have to essentially beg for my licenses. I'd be interested to know other BCers thoughts on this, as it feels like I'm having to buy them again, and it feels like customers who play by the rules, and purchase licenses are being punished for the actions of others who pirate software.
  11. I know he was using his Jazz with flats on the ‘I’m with you’ album, not really listened to the Getaway enough to pay it that much attention.
  12. I feel the same way. ‘Dark Necessities’ on Getaway sounds like a demo recording. Chad’s drums sound like they were recorded in a badly tuned room, and Flea’s playing is just sloppy; hitting strings that should have been muted etc. Suffice to say it’s not one of my favourites. 🙁
  13. Do you have a short scale fretted for a 9 year old bass student of mine? She’s on a full size and is keen, but she’s very petite and struggling!
  14. I’m really going to struggle to be honest. My mates have visas but mine’s a MasterCard 🙁
  15. The first band that really caught my attention were a-ha back in 1980 something, then it was Iron Maiden and later on, Rush. There we are then.
  16. I seem to remember that this particular track (sirpsychosexy)was a Mutron with a dying battery, that’s what gave the baseline the dirty filter sound. The entire album (Blood sugar sex magik) was played on a Wal. Earlier songs on the album are almost definitely a DOD fx25 though. As a result of this thread I’ve been playing a lot of Flea lines, and the Chunk FX Agent 00 Funk gets really close, as it has a ‘clean’ knob that can be backed off to introduce some dirty, squelchy fun.
  17. Bought a Sansamp from Joe, dead quick and easy transaction. Recommended BCer, deal with confidence.

    BDDI Harshness

You could also try blending in a bit of the ‘drive’ signal, as that also brings in the bass heavy cab sim, then back off the treble and presence and set the mid control too either boost a little at 500Hz or cut some of the 1kHz frequency. I was playing about with mine earlier like this and had to cut some of the bass, at it was quite thunderous!
