Although this has caught my eye: http://www.kennysmus...ck-package.html

Wicked price for 300w of Ashdown MAG into a 210 cab.

Note though, that's a 4 Ohm cab, which means you're kinda stuffed if you want to add an additional cab to the setup. Good price though, if it's what you want.

As you're only rehearsing/jamming at the mo' though, I think I'd be inclined to carry on with the little 15W Laney, or borrow the 100W one, for now - no harm in keeping the volume down in rehearsals - and keep an eye on the for sale section until something comes up.

Good luck !

Edit - just noticed a GK head on here, 135 quid posted - seems a bit of a steal to me...

Just a little feeler from me (oo-er). I'm looking at getting an Ashdown ABM evo II 300w head. Now, I know very little about ohms and impedance so have no idea whether this cab would be a perfect match or not. (The cab's a little out of my budget but from what I've heard, they're quality cabs so could be worth the extra cash imo.) I could pick up too as I'm only in Brissle.

The ABM head will go down to a 4 Ohm load, so this would be fine (no idea what it'd sound like though...)

You won't get the full 300W though (I thought the ABM was 325W or something...?) probably only ~200W unless you add another 8 Ohm cab.

3. +1 to buying 2nd hand - all of my current kit has come from here :)

There's an Ashdown Mag300 head in the for sale section for 100 quid, and there pretty much always seems to be a selection of Ashdown/Hartke/Peavey etc cabs for the same kind of money. Something along those lines would be a far more gigable rig than an EB combo, IMO.

For tonights gig - 100-ish people if it's full, rock covers, drums, 2 guitars, 3 vox - I'll be using a 175W/8Ohm Hartke HA2500 into an Ashdown Mag 2x10.

If that's not loud enough for your average pub or small club gig, tell the guitar/s to turn down! Lots of pub bands, that I see, play far too loud.

4. I think I may have spoken too soon.

I've only had this just over a week, and until last night I'd only really been noodling around at "don't upset the neighbours" kind of volumes. Took it to rehearsal last night, and after some fiddling with EQ at decent at decent volume I don't actually think there's anything much amiss :)

Yes - the J PUP is a bit quieter than the P, but I've now dropped the P PUP a bit and raised the J, and I'm pretty damned happy.

I Must say, I'm extremely pleased with this Tanglewater...

5. I'm also a bit puzzled by this - i think I've the same kind of thing with my (passive) Classic J.

With the blend control fully to the P pickup, it's much louder than with the blend control all the way to the J. I appreciate that the neck pickup will probably be louder than the bridge, but I was expecting it to be loudest with the blend control at the center indent - ie both pickups full bore.

As it is, I get:

Blend control fully to the J = J tone.
Blend control centered = P+J, louder than just the J.
Blend control filly to the P = P tone, loudest of the lot.

Surely this is wrong, or is it my expectations that are awry?

Would be interesting to put up a poll - in fact I may do it later - on how many members joind with their first intention being selling an item.

Affinity series P vs Westone made in Japan by Matsumoku...

Not sure about the Spectrum, as I've never had my paws on one, but I'd go for a Westone Thunder any day of the week.
