1.
Dingwall basses have 37 inch B-strings
Wow dude!! Those basses are real beauties! What's it like playing on a Novax fanned-fret system? Does it make it easier to play on the bottom registers or something?
2. I've been searching for the perfect 5 string for years now and I'm still yet to find it, but having played Yamaha's, Ibanez, Fenders, Spector and various others, I have to say that the only one which had a 35" scale was the Spector, and that clearly had the best clarity to the tone on the B string. It was nice having a B which sounded punchy and tight, instead of loose and flappy like that of the 34" basses. I think when it comes to a tight and punchy B string, the longer the scale, the better
3. Hey all, Due to lack of interest, I'm re-vamping this ad. So here's the new one: Stunning Tanglewood Baron 4-string bass up for sale. You've probably never heard of or seen this bass before because it was a limited edition run back in the mid 90s. The craftmanship of this bass is truly outstanding and rivals that of any other bass I've played - even those at 4 times the price point. So what's so sweet about it? Well, to sum it up... Slimline, contoured Ash body (I believe), with a sublime 5-piece laminate through neck for super sustain. 'You could got and make a cup of tea and still be hearing that one' Gold plated Brass nut for a crispy tone, with matching gold plated bridge and tuners. Furnished with a EMG J/P pickup configuration. It features a pickup blend control, and what I can only describe as an active presence/boost control which allows you to generate a truly MASSIVE tone; seriously, just like Spinal Tap, this bass has got some BIG bottom. The remaining two controls are volume and bass/treble boost. I've not touched the set-up in 14 years and it remains perfectly set up; the action is incredibly low and plays perfectly all the way up and down its 24 fret neck. The fret finishing by the way is some of the best I've seen. The bass came with matching gold plated strap locks which are still fitted (everything is as original, aside from the strings.....obviously). Condition of the bass is near perfect, aside from a small ding in the body, and a few blemishes around the bottom strap button. It's a veteran of well over 200 gigs and has never failed me, not even with so much as a crackly pot. So, I hear you wonder, if it's this good, why am I selling it? Well my collection is expanding, and I need to make some space for some new basses and sadly I'm in need of money. As this is one of the finer basses I own, I need to consider selling it to raise much needed funds, and rather than stick my old friend on eBay, I'd rather see her go to a reliable owner in a community of bassists. At least that way, I might chance upon her again when I'm feeling richer! Enough blurb, let's talk money. I'm looking for: [s]£600[/s] / [s]£500[/s] NOW: £450 - I know this sounds a lot for a Tanglewood, but believe me, if you played her you'd understand the rationale for the price tag. I'll gladly bring the bass to you (with reason from Leeds) so you can check her out in person. P.s. I would consider trades, but as I'm selling this due to financial reasons, cold hard cash would be preferred [or electronic funds transfers] Here are some pics of her in action: (Check out that gorgeous slimline body and neck in the second pic! The only real damage to speak of is this knock in the top side which has cracked through the lacquer: And these are the knocks on the underside:
4. Price reduction and Monday bump. Now asking for £850 (inc. Gator hard case).
5. Been after one of these myself for a while now, but ideally want a 5 stringer. Amazingly big full tone out of these for a non-solid body. Still if I had the cash to spare I'd snap this up for £200, instead have a bump on me.
6. Hey thanks for the bump... Sadly this is only a Skyline (Korean) model, but the quality is still sublime. The Skylines are produced in Korea then finished in the Chicago workshop to Lakland standards. In terms of swaps... I'd consider anything interesting, including MusicMan's (SUBs or full), Spector, Sandberg... anything that makes a good slap/rock/funk bass (5ers definitely welcome too).
7. Hi all, I'm a newbie to the boards, so hoping that I get this right! Please let me know if not. I have for sale or for trade a Lakland 44-02 Deluxe in Cherry Red with a quilted maple top. The bass is equipped with Bartolini MM and J pickups with a 3 band EQ and 3-way coil switch on the MM pickup; this gives you a massive tonal palette at your fingertips. The neck is slim and fast and all is in good working order. Ash body, maple neck with rosewood fretboard producing a great tone. Frets in good condition with minimal wear. In terms of condition, it's in great nick with very minor wear and no major knocks or dings; light brushing on lacquer on the back from playing and a loss of gloss on the lacquer where my thumb has been resting. Please see the pictures for more information - I'll upload some more when I get home and get the chance to photo some more The bass is a real beauty and I'm reluctant to sell, hence would consider a trade or part/trade for an equal quality bass. Asking for [s]£900 [/s] £850 for straight sale or will consider trade offers. Thanks for looking, feel free to PM me or post on here if you need any further information. Oli [EDIT] Added some more photos of the beauty and updated the condition description (sorry about the quality of the pics, they're the best I can do with my camera and less than ideal lighting): As you can see in this pic, under light the quilted maple top and cherry sunburst create a fantastic look....like flames licking all over the body:
