Yes, but if Metallica didn't exist until 2024, would it have been done as well as it ever would be? This is the crux of what I'm saying. Given their pioneer status, it is fair to say if they didn't exist until now, it wouldn't have been done, so thrash would be new. Would they cut through?
-
But in a lot of cases, it is the fans that are making the comparison to that of old, not the bands. It would be pretty difficult to come across a thrash band now that wouldn't resemble some part of Metallica, given their longevity and how often their core "sound" has switched up. The sad thing is, anything Metallica has done since the glory days doesn't really stack up against other modern offerings, but inevitably comfortably outperforms anything new, even when half the fan base accept the individual shortcomings of the band members. But I digress from my own point, i think we need to agree to disagree. Given the sheer talent on display from literal children, let alone established underground bands, the idea that peak Metallica could be a new band today and instantly succeed is a difficult thing for me to believe. Not without a hell of a lot of marketing that just wan't needed in the eighties.

Perhaps missing the point I am making a little, but if Metallica appeared now, in the current market, would they break through? I'm not sure that, against current competition, they would. Impossible to fairly consider of course, as wiping their impact out would change the platform today. But it's interesting.

Sorry to be blunt, but total pish for me! You're overlooking that the competition now is SOOO much higher than it was back when the artists you name made it. It's true, literally any silly sod can pay £30 odd and upload the sound of the cat farting to every streaming platform. But that's the tip of the iceberg. The sheer volume of music out there is incomparable to anything as recent as a couple of decades ago, and it would be really interesting to see how many of the old pioneers would break through in the modern day. The talent out there is insane and at such a high level it's silly, and even then so few break through. I'm mainly talking from a Metal player perspective, but being at 80's Metallica level now, for example, would get you absolutely nowhere without mastering the crazy world of social media and pouring all your energy into that. Even then, when you hear what some of the underground thrash bands put out now and still play tiny venues, it makes you think.

So my 34" scale headless had a total length of 41.73 inches (or so the builder claimed, I never measured it) and was comfortably far from the top from memory, certainly not touching the padding, which seems a little at odds with the quoted internal dimensions! The padding is thick, so you'd imagine there'd be some decent give?
-
This is in mint condition, barely used and no visible wear I can see to photograph! Please note that this is the Electric Guitar case and was used by me for a headless bass and it was perfect! Assume it will fit most headless and a good number of short scale basses. Will include shipping to UK, no box but will bag it up securely. These are north of £220 new so this is a bit of a steal. Internal Dimensions: 41.5" x 14.5" x 3" (105.4cm x 36.8cm x 7.6cm) External Dimensions: 44.5" x 18.9" x 5.5" (113.0cm x 48.0cm x 14.0cm) External Pocket Dimensions: 7" (Short) / 17" (Tall) x 15" x 1" (17.8cm / 43.2cm x 38.1cm x 2.5cm) Weight: 5.5lbs (2.5kg) Cheers!

Surprised to hear that about the Darkglass plugin being better. My captures of the Alpha Omega and X Ultra are absolutely indistinguishable from the real thing, but I've never tried to capture a B*K or a Vintage. It will come to QC but I suspect it will be last on the list. Parallax will be very soon as it's already an X version, Cory Wong won't be too far off.

I'm not sure I'm brave enough to update Day 1! Next gig isn't til August bank holiday though so I suppose i'm probably safe to. How is transpose, notable improvement on the pitch shifter? And sidechaining work well, particularly with the Adaptive Gate (ala Zuul)?

It's been a while, but I thought on headphones it was Cab Sim only? Definitely possible, but I though you could only change it on the DI.

I still find it hard to believe he hasn't conned the wrong person yet and got his head caved in, then the police will pay attention... And prosecute the wrong person.

What's the Nolly doing for bass? Notice that's just been X'd today so won't be far off the QC!
-
I haven't trialed it myself yet, but apparently it does a decent job with bass!

Oo no I wasn't asking you, for me a 'Ray over a P is a no brainer 😉 I was asking Lozz why a 2 band EQ model would be more appropriate, coming from a P, as I think with the extra control over the mids, I'd say the opposite?
-
Gorgeous 'Ray, congrats Out of interest, why?
-
I wouldn't bother with the Darkglass suite. Two reasons A) It's already pretty much covered with the models already on the QC B) I reckon it will be ages before that one is upgrade to X and made QC compatible, if it ever is! Parallax is the way. Though I already have that, so I reckon I'm going to go Rabea for that Overlord synth engine 😍

11lb 6oz...or at least that's what he told me! From researching it, I think generally this particular model is pretty weighty, but yeah a tad too much for me, at least without trying it first.
