Agreed. I want to be able to switch the distortion in and out not the amp voicing. I would select the amp voicing for a particular song but having the ability to switch the distortion on and off for the win
Yes, that's what it does? Guy you quoted was talking about it switching voices mid song, which I agree would not really be necessary.

Try before you buy, whatever you do!
i think they missed a trick on being able to switch from vintage microtubes to B3K engines via the foot switch, that would have been ace. I would have been sold at that.
Doug answered that, he wanted to keep the foot switch as just needing a standard cable. If he did make that switchable, he would have had to use something else and he wanted to avoid that. It would have been cool, but I can't think of a situation where I would want to switch voices where clicking the switch on the amp wouldn't be possible. I can't see why you would switch voices mid song, but it's less of a problem for me anyway as I have a Darkglass unit on the floor.

Excellent to hear that the Ashdown more than competes with the expensive Barefaced counterpart, particularly given how Barefaced advertise they should compete to other 1x12 cabs. Look forward to hearing further comparisons from you in the real world gigging environment!

GAS overhwhelmed me, that together with the fact that if I sold one of my Darkglass Ultra pedals and my current amp I would have more than enough to buy one of these, which effectively has both of the Ultra pedals built in. I wouldn't have considered it had it been the price I expected it to be, however at £769 it is an absolute steal compared to its competitors in my opinion. The only disadvantage (compared to my current Class D amp) I can see it has is a lack of Aux in and headphone jacks. Outside the bedroom, not so much of an issue, but I do occasionally use my current amp for late night practice in this way. The microtubes engine makes up for it Hopefully in a week or so it will be in my hands, expect a full review!

Tecamp Puma 900 Made in Germany before the company split into Tecamp USA and Eich. Excellent high powered Class D amp. Clean rich tone with a very musical EQ. Typical (stereotype alert) German engineering, high quality and built to last. In great condition with soft case and manual, no box though. 900w into 4ohm 600w into 8ohm Used this with Berganinto CN112 and Vanderkley 112 cabs and they both sound great. Looking for something a little different so looking to move her on, amps in mind so cash only please. Pics available soon! £450 including U.K. Shipping. These are around £750 new so a bargain if I ever did see one! Cheers

Up for sale I have a recently acquired 3 Leaf Wonderlove envelope filter. Bought it as it was a silly bargain, but I don't really need an envelope filter so the impulse buy needs to go! In good condition, few chips in the paintwork but in perfect working order. It is the original version with the rather funky paint job! Link to original sale thread here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/291059-3-leaf-audio-wonderlovesold/page__p__3124642__hl__wonderlove__fromsearch__1#entry3124642 Selling what I bought it for at £120 plus shipping. Trades also considered. Cheers
I've just watched the pro mo vid. It looks very well built and sounds great. I'm very interested in this head but need to see/hear more samples of the various sounds it can put out. Hard attacking finger style please with crunch, please. If it needs a fan then so be it. I won't hear it when playing live, it's a 900w head rammed full of distortion for stage use... it's not a bedroom toy. I think I want one.
I would imagine the concern about the fan is more about mic'd recording or perhaps reliability. Well, thats mine anyway

Class D heads vary so much it is impossible to generalise them the way some are in this thread. I'm not going to get involved, but all I will say is the TH500 sounded very thin and weedy in comparison to my Tecamp Puma when AB'd with the band, something really lacking in the sound. Lack of heft? Just don't!

I still can't believe how cheap Darkglass have released this head at, that Andertons price is stonking. Bear in mind this practically has a Vintage Ultra and B7K Ultra built in, and they are pedals costing £325 a piece alone. Then add the power module, the fact they are handbuilt in Finland and the engineering that has gone intro producing this unit. Bravo Doug and the team! The english price is fair compared to the US price I imagine primarily because, unlike a lot of the competition, this unit of course is not built in the US. For fans of the Darkglass drive pedals, utter bargain. For non-Darkglass fans, I imagine this will just be fair competition against Eich/Tecamp/Mesa and the other higher end Class D heads. It does have that power amp flexibility a lot of others don't. Cheaper than the Mesa, a tiny bit more than the Eich, and love it or hate it the Mircrotubes engine makes for a very flexible preamp in comparison. Owning both the Ultra pedals and a Tecamp head I'm very happy with, I can't see how I can justify this without selling basically everything I use at the moment, bar basses and cabs. I admit to being disappointed with the addition of a fan (love that the Puma only has very silent ones that are hardly ever on, and it never feels close to overheating), but that foot switch has to make up for it, surely?
To be honest I don't know why I moved away from them, went back to Musicman for a while, traded my stingray for this lovely Mayo but I still miss the Fanned frets if I'm honest!
Trade. Trade. Trade. That is all.

Good call on making it matte too, as opposed to gloss. Would love to see it with a dark wood fingerboard though...
Sounds nice. If you do end up moving on your TAFM .......1st first dibs please :-)
On a different note, if you decide to move the Photon on, 1st dibs please!
No it doesn't - it says, like the NG2, that the pickups are made in Canada, and then at the bottom, like the NG2 it says the country of origin. If you compare the two lists, the components are in the same order, suggesting that there's a standard form that Dingwall use for their specs on their marketing. I'd still agree it's a lot of money for a Chinese manufactured instrument, but then aren't Lakland Skylines a similar price and have similar specs - US made electronics, sent back to the States for final set-up/inspection?
Exactly. Odd criticisms in this thread, instead focus on the pink and carbon fibre combo!! Haha
