Pictures as promised I have tried to show any marks on the tolex I can, very hard to photograph unless the light is shining the right way -
Fantastic cab, probably the best looking cab in the market too, if that counts for anything! In great condition, couple of marks on the Tolex here and there but nothing serious. I just sold this rather splendid chap one of the best bass preamp pedals available. First time transaction on Basschat, all smooth and dandy. Would absolutely recommend dealing with him in confidence. Thanks again bud, enjoy the Darkglass!
I have two words for you... JUSTIN CHANCELLOR of Tool. Great example of his Wal tone here https://www.youtube....h?v=yj_xjzyAarA
Second biggest reason I bought a Wal. His tones are just incredible, and so much of it is because of that bass. There is nothing like them.
Ha ha, I love these type of threads. The OP was comparing his SM vs his AG500, my response was based on my own experience with the AG vs the Mesa. Then lots of D Class sucks talk, and some NOOO, D Class is good, especially if it is made in Finland and finally (several people) sense that the reason most D Class amps sound feeble in certain conditions is due to the quality of the power supply. Loving it!
You seem to have brought Finnish Class D in all by yourself. It's entertaining to read what goes on in people's heads, for sure!!
Everything gets into a class d debate, or a BF vs the world debate, or an is it good for metal debate. There's no point living otherwise
Not sure how this has turned into a Class D debate. I would really, really love to do a blind hearing test on some of you lot....

We need a drummer guys. Fairly straightforward beats for a competent metal drummer, we have a gig in December so we would really like to have someone in place by then! Influences Sabaton, Metallica, Iron Maiden e.t.c., check us out and get in touch if its your bag! http://www.facebook.com/barbikanband

The prices of those cabs are insane, even the passive 1x10 is $1200! Judging by how many times they mention the brand, they seem to be trying to be the Fodera of bass speakers.

Its such a shame Fender can't sort these QC issues out. How are they still leaving the factory like this? Is it simply complacency? Its a Fender, its endorsed by Flea, these will sell no matter how we ship them?
Looks sweet - who fitted it for you Kev ?
Noise Works in Coventry, he works with Bass Direct and is basically the unofficial UK Dingwall tech. Great work and well priced too.
I know there is a lot of love on these hallowed pages for WAL basses, I have never had the chance to play one, so what makes them so special? I have owned a couple of Status basses and could never take to the sound of them, they seemed too thick sounding, all treble and bass with no middle, for some reason I imagine WAL's have the same kind of sound?
Pickups and preamps are what make Wals so unique. Mulicoil pickups for each string, filter based preamp. Makes for a very unique sounding bass. And, incidentally, I cannot think of any bass that sounds less like a Status!
I''m familiar with the u-retro and have it in my Shuker jazz. But the Darkglass sounds interesting, how have you guys wired it ?
5 knob config, Volume - Dingwall Switch - Bass - Lo Mid - Hi Mid I also had series/parallel switches for each pickup installed at the same time, huge expansion of the original passive sound.
-
Yup, depends what you are after. The Darkglass Tone Capsule was literally made for Dingwalls and Dingwall pickups, it has got its own tone but its a magnificent one. Not one if you want passive and active to sound the same when flat. Glockenklang is standard. I would look at Nordstrand too.
What's the rush? I always wait with new amps to see if any kinks need ironing out.
....you are familiar with GAS, right? I have complete faith in Doug and the team, which is why I was happy to receive one of the first in the country. I know if it has any issues, they will be sorted.
Pretty stable, but few small tweaks.
Still enjoying that Future Impact? I half expected a marketplace influx but it appears they are that good!
It definitely has a sound of its own... for those looking for that sound inbetween the b7k and vintage.
That made me chuckle! You should try the Vintage Ultra, gets VERY close to B7K flat attack tones. It doesn't get as metallic, but certainly covers a very broad range. I can see its already in the classifieds, it was the only pedal you were keeping 3 days ago alongside a Cog!

Darkglass Super Symmetry for me, every other compressor I have used has changed the tone too much. The Super Symmetry is very transparent, with a slight highs roll-off to take the edge off. Very 'phat' sound as a result. Definitely a compressor which you notice more when its off then on. Great metering, parallel compression, all the controls you would want... great unit
