Up for sale I have a recently acquired Aguilar Tone Hammer 500. The latest Class D to pass through my mitts, pitting them all against one another and at the moment the Tecamp is winning, so moving this one on. Its a lovely powerful amp and has its reputation for a reason. Cracking bit of kit. Specs:- Power Output: 500 watts into 4 ohms, 250 watts into 8 ohms Preamp Section: Solid State Power Section: Class D Transformer: Switching mode power supply (SMPS) EQ Section: Bass: +/- 17 dB @ 40 Hz Mid Level: +/- 16 dB Mid Frequency: 180 Hz – 1 kHz Treble: +/- 14 dB @ 4 kHz Drive Control: Fully adjustable, featuring Aguilar’s proprietary AGS(adaptive gain shaping) circuit. Effects Loop: Series operation. Adds 6 dB of additional gain, making it useful for a broad range of effects units. Inputs: One 1/4" input jack, compatible with all active and passive basses Speaker Outputs: Two Neutrik Speakon speaker outputs Balanced Output: XLR balanced output with pre/post EQ and ground lift switch Tuner output Cooling: Two high quality whisper fans with thermal speed control Dimensions: 10.75”W X 8.5”D X 2.75”H The amp is in perfect working condition and great cosmetic condition, only marks to note are pictures on the base of the amp. Comes with kettle lead. No original box, but does come with the Aguilar soft case. The case has been well used, the edge on one side is coming away revealing the foam padding and could do with some attention with a needle and thread and generally the case is rough around the edges, but the case still does its job i.e. there are no holes in either compartment. I wouldn't trust it on the shoulder strap anymore though! Seems that all Class D cases suffer this at some point! Need a quick sale ideally so bargain price of £435, will include shipping in the UK or travel for a meet up. Happy to consider trades for high end 1x12 cabinets or other Class D heads, but nothing from GK, Aguilar, Markbass or Genz Benz please. Not interested in trading up and adding cash, but happy to do a partial trade the other way. Cash sale very much preferred. Cheers!
what about people who have never tried Barefaced before, but gig regularly in a band with a bassist who has been using Barefaced for a number of years, thereby having some experience of Barefaced sound (on stage and FOH) at various gigging levels (indoor and out), and with different amps (ss and valve)? Should they be allowed to comment?
You know that wasn't what I was getting at, I shall not engage further
Yes that would achieve it or make yourself a very short XLR-F to XLR-M cable and not connect pin#1.
Cheers Dave And make myself a cable? Now now, lets not get carried away I think one of these should be fine, especially for the price.

Just a quickie... For reasons unknown (anyone care to enlighten?), Tecamp Puma heads were not fitted with a ground switch for their DI. First time I have come across that. With my equipment, there is a ground hum and I cannot DI out without the ground being lifted. Would this do the trick, without sacrificing sound quality? It is a real shame. For weeks I was trying to find a way of freeing up the cash for one, but second hand appears to be definitely the way to go so you know your getting a decent one.

Cheeky little amp trade with this guy, great to deal with and fully recommend you give him a go! Cheers bud.

Jesus. Reading the last few pages isn't good. What percentage of BC'ers have had some kind of issue? Broken pickups, flaking paint, threaded screws, pole pieces not lining up, warped plastic, chunks of pick guard missing, chewed truss rod, dead spots, super high action, the list appears endless! Fender QC, people don't exaggerate do they! I wonder if they will release a proper US Custom Shop version at some point?

Interesting to read about these amps. There are SO many top quality amps to choose from these days, many of which you will be able to easily try out with your gear in exchange for a short drive. What is it about these particular amps that makes it worth the risk taking a chance on one?
Always sitting down, although its a bit difficult on a leather recliner chair not to keep hitting the neck on the arms. I could never see myself standing up in the front room with a Fender Precision strapped on. I would feel such a pillock!
Don't use a Precision then!

I learn/write sitting down and practice what Iv learnt standing up.

Well, Ill look forward to the Fender price crash next year when the GBP recovers from the market shock.
I can only speak for Milwaukee. 99% of all clubs and bars that book live music are dedicated to cover bands. These clubs and bars do not hire originals bands. We have about 6 origibal bands clubs that book multi bill shows. These clubs do not book cover bands. Blue
That's really quite sad

I would use a little wood glue, at least at first before doing anything more significant. Wood glue should be a better shout than superglue and other thin glues.

Depends on your budget. I use a Girgig Generator, best and quietest supply I have used.
Official govt line is: " You can bring in your personal belongings or private vehicle free of duty and tax so long as you: are moving your normal place of residence to the UK only have had your normal place of residence outside the EU for a continuous period of at least 12 months have possessed and used the belongings for at least 6 months outside the EU before they are imported did not get them under a duty/tax free scheme (but see paragraph 5.3) declare them to us as explained in paragraph 3.2 will keep them for your personal use do not sell, lend, hire out or otherwise dispose of them in the UK or anywhere else in the EU within 12 months of the date of importation, unless you notify us first and pay duty and VAT on disposal"
I'm surprised there are that many rules for taking things with you!! But yes, none of this applies to using the postal service to send items home, which I think is the OPs main query.
I'm not sure where it came from. Also I hear that Bartolinis have low output. Not true. These pickups are huge.imo the best pickups in the world. Everyone has different ears of course. I have the full Delano preamp and pickups package for sale by the way. He he.
That 'brittleness' you talked about the Barts not having? That is probably where it came from. Most modern high end pickups are full range and if not eq'd correctly can sound very hifi in the high end. The Barts sound darker as they don't have the glistening high end naturally. This was my experience with the two Roscoe's and a Warwick I have owned, certainly darker sounding than the likes of Nordstrand.
So if you move to another country, you have to pay import charges on all your belongings that you can't squeeze into your luggage?
If you use a postal service, yes. But surely you would use a moving company or something?
