1.
Which would you choose from the two I am torn between and why? Which of the two has the better b string in your opinion? Are there any other basses you would consider with the amount of money I have? There's no music shops that carry these instuments anywhere remotely near me so trying them out before I buy is off the agenda. Cheers!

I would choose neither. For £1,000 I would wait and buy a Thumb NT 5 when one pops up. Different class of instrument to the Bolt-On, and quite exceptional. A thumb has a very baked in tone due to the pickup placement, much as a Stingray has its own backed in tone. Very different, entirely dependent on what you want. For me, the Thumb NT is of a much higher build quality than the Stingray. The Bolt-On is comparable, but IMO still better due to the quality of the woods used. The BO is typically uncomfortable on a strap, plenty of neck dive on a lot of examples. The NT balances much better. I have only tried one Stingray 5 and it balanced perfectly. With Warwicks, I would look at instruments 1992 and older, or 2009 and newer. Best experience I have had with Warwicks (I have owned over a dozen) have been built during these periods.
There is no 'better' B, but I am not sure what your definition is. They are both 34" scale instruments, so a lot will be dependant on the setup.
Tons of basses, little merit in suggesting many, but the first that comes to mind is a Dingwall Combustion.
You need to try some basses out. Stingrays and Warwicks are worlds apart, being active is about the only thing they have in common. It is a buyers market out there, I would wait for an NT thumb if you were insistent on buying without trying, unless you find a BO for the £600-£700 mark (come up more often than you would think).
2. Any price for the cabs without the head? Nice Alpher by the way
3. Did anyone have a preorder in at guitar guitar? As imagine that is who will get it
4. You know, I may joke, but actually I would much prefer a 9lb jazz to an 8lb personally!
5. Yeah, it only powers on if it's in the mood...
6. Lose value these Flea signatures, particularly the heavy ones. I mean, your a nice guy, ill give you £200 for the fatty......
7. Interesting to see a comparison between Barefaced and Vanderkley, without having the opportunity to do it myself your results are pretty much what I imagined they would be. I personally wouldn't want to compromise tone, so if the extra weight and size isn't an issue I would stick with the Vanderkleys. If you crave more compactness and a good tone buy the Barefaced.
8. Just sold Jordi an effects pedal, smooth and patient to deal with, despite the pedal somehow taking nearly 2 weeks to get to spain! Cheers mate
9.
I have never taken anyone to task for criticising barefaced (or any other gear for that matter) because calm respectful discussions of the merits are gear is what we are here for, I do however take people to task for jumping in with mud slinging comments and inflammatory comments like "oh no another one of these threads" which dont forward to discussion at hand.
We can agree to disagree. Can we move on please, as per the OP's request?
10. Okay, so I used it in a loud rehearsal this evening. It is outstanding. I can't turn it off. It just sounds massive through my GK/Vanderkley setup. Its really, really difficult to describe what its doing to the tone. The Vanderkley is very clean and true to what goes into it, so I guess the OCSD is giving the impression it is a much larger and more coloured cab. It just sounds massive and cuts through the mix unbelievably well. Heavy metal drummer and two guitarists i'm dealing with here. At the end of the session, just for fun I DI'd into the practice room of the PA to see how it sounded. It sounded exactly as it does in headphones/recordings, like a big mic'd cab. My gearhead vocalist/guitarist was amazed by it, didn't think it was possible to get sounds like that without digital amp modelling. This little unit is remarkable, it really is.
11. GuitarGuitar still have one at £882, Ratlle and Drum too.
12. Doesn't seem to be any shortage of them at the moment now. Still doesn't distract me from wanting one!
13.
Apologies, I should have elaborated. My logic was that a single BBT would do a better job for smaller gigs over a single SL 112 (given the suggested 450 watt over 250 watt difference, although I realise these figures aren't a measured indicator). Is due to phase issues?
The speaker ratings are what wattage the speakers can handle pumped into them, and not necessarily an indicator of which is more sensitive or louder.
14. Absolutely. My comments are very much on topic though, so fortunately there is no trolling in this thread yet. Did you take them up on the free trial then? I would be interested to hear how it compares to the 4x10 in a band situation.
15.
Its been a long wait but its finally here (well will be Monday)
It's a stunner mate, it truly is. Wonderous finish.
16.
So as long as people stick to their own reasoned opinions, that is OK. Many do not. Comparing Barefaced to TKS or Bergntino is like comparing a Porsche, to a Ferrari to a Bentley. All great cars but not all necessarily write for everyone. The point is to celebrate all of them as they all add to our sum of knowledge.
Well said
17.
How's that a bargain? All the UK stockists have been selling at that price surely? At least all the ones I've seen online have.
Yup, confused me to. Minty?
18.
That's not the impression I got. Before I got my first BF cab, and not knowing anything about the history of the company whatsoever, I would come across BF-related threads and I just could not understand the bahaviour of the participants. And by that I mean people seeming hellbent on jumping onto any BF thread to just be negative in a way that seemed... obsessive. It put me right off BF at first because it made me think that perhaps there was a reason behind that behaviour. Eventually the day came when I could try them for myself and... I still don't get that compulsive behaviour of some. I really don't. If there's any excessive lashing out from BF 'fans' (which is not pretty either) sometimes, it was not them who started it Of course you disagree. But my own observations are different from what you said, so I want to leave this message here
Admittedly, I have only really begun to take notice of Barefaced threads recently, largely because I was looking to buy a bass rig again for the first time in years and I was browsing this part of the forum. So, I missed all the earlier threads on Barefaced (something about handles?) so you may be absolutely right, trolls and rather sad little people who didn't want to see a small guy succeed may have 'started it', so to speak. My comments though are based on recent threads, and in those I stand by my comments; any negativity, constructive or not, is jumped on (as demonstrated by Bassman7755). Some Barefaced owners do need to accept that not everyone likes it when they constantly state how much louder and better designed their cabs are. Equally, people who have never tried Barefaced before (which I'm sure there are several) shouldn't be commenting at all! But the ones who have tried and disliked shouldn't feel the need to discuss their issues with them by PM in fear of being shouted down on here, and I know of a number of members who feel this way.

Boss TU-3S

Okay, I'm annoyed. Iv just wired up a super compact new pedalboard (metro 16) and will struggle to fit a tuner pedal on it. I also don't have much use for a muting function, so would rather it was just a tuner plugged into the line out of one of my pedals. This tuner fits the bill perfectly. FFS! If it were £30 or so then I would be in, but for £75....
20. My Pedaltrain Metro 16 arrived today so spent the afternoon wiring her up. All neat and tidy, little pushed for space though! And pardon the vintage Boss tuner, I will get round to updating it at some point... Simple, but I love it.
21. I will vouch for John Williams as well, did a great job with my Dingwall and sorted a Warwick with a buggered neck out for me in the past. Great guy and cheap as chips
22. I mean really, that's what it's made for. But it does magic with the signal at low/headphone volume, so like I say I'm curious as to what it will do through my rig at volume.
23.
This looks awesome, and exactly what I need. Will be ordering one myself soon. Either of you used it live yet?
By live use, do you mean through a amp/cab or DI out to PA? I won't be using it live for a good few weeks, however I will be rehearsing at gig volume with it on Sunday through my Amp, so I can comment on that then. I imagine all it will do is give my otherwise modern sounding 112 a more retro larger cab sound. It wasn't what I bought it for, but im intrigued in any case
24. Killer pedal. Exactly what I was looking for, quite amazing what this thing does to your sound through headphones/DI. Im still not sure if I will use this through an amp, but such is the quality of the sound I'm getting through headphones I will give it a go at rehearsal on Sunday, see what it does. There is very little about this company on Basschat; small business based out of Chile, here is their website http://www.dsmnoisemaker.com. I thoroughly recommend everyone check them out. Great bloke, already had a good chat with him about this pedal, cut from the same cloth as Doug Castro.
