1. Don't buy one, then
  2. So its out, at a reasonable £119. Anyone tried one??
  3.
Actually B7K and Ultra sales are both record high at the moment, which is an interesting surprise as a more drastic cannibalization seemed logical. We'll see what happens with demand of other products, as of now no plans to discontinue anything, but we'll see as we have a very interesting release road map for the next 2 years! The Amp and Jon Stockman pedal that are about to come give a glimpse of where we were 12-18 months ago... but we've worked on other interesting (and more ambitious) R&D challenges simultaneously, so a lot of big changes are occurring now, super exciting times ahead! Thanks for the support, looking forward hearing what you think of this pedal! Doug.
Well, that surprises me, but I guess its skewed by Darkglass being more popular than ever too Can't wait to hear this Stockman pedal!
  4.
I've seen nothing to suggest they're not, their site is still up and they are still for sale in various places. Bass Direct is the only shop I'm aware of that decided to stop selling them, and I'm not aware of any 'silencing campaign' either?
Fair enough, just haven't seen anyone selling them in the UK. The silencing campaign was when Pike were deleting any comment on their social media pages that wasn't outright praise of the pedals, many of which were just simply and politely questioning the similarity with Darkglass. Not the best defence of your product, but there you go! Sorry, getting a little OT. I wonder how sales of the B7K and Vintage Deluxe are now that the Ultra models are out? I almost expected Darkglass to discontinue the models as, other than a parallel out, they offer nothing over the Ultra. The Ultra series is cheaper than deluxe series was when it first came out too
  5.
So I get that it's not strictly 'vintage' but I'm a bit confused now at the 'aggressive' overlap with the B7K? What the clear blue water that this does and the B7K doesn't and vice-versa?
The B7K circuit cannot get as thick and , well, vintage sounding as the Vintage. The Vintage cannot get as heavy metal drive sounding at the B7K. Listen to the sound samples, it's quite difficult to describe the difference but very easy to hear it.
  6. This bass is now a complete beast. Night and day difference, and it was bloody good before!
  7.
Got mine too. Many thanks for the heads-up. I tuned a bass and it's good. It struggles on B strings so i resorted to the Korg tuner. I then checked the other strings. It's about 1/4 tone out on all notes. Not sure if I'd bother. Or am I too fussy?
I have that issue when I checked, but only on the B and E. A, D and G were fine. Doesn't really make sense to me, I don't tune on open strings so its not that it is struggling with low notes...
  8. Hey, is you bass balanced on a strap?? Ever wanted to get some of the neck dive so many crave? If so, this is the tool for you!
  9.
And another...
This is more like it. sh*t chorus, but otherwise this is more what I want to hear from them.
  10. Kev

    Which compressor?

The Super Symmetry is an excellent unit if you can stretch to it. I found the MXR a little too clinical. Have no experience with the TC stuff, but they sound like good bang for buck.
  11.
I sold my VMTD a while back has I really wanted one with a brighter grainier sound and these new ones looked like just the ticket. But then I got a Pike Vulcan and it's a keeper! I'd still be interested to compare it to the new Vintage but I'm in no rush to buy one.
Are Pike still going? After their silencing campaign on social media and shops refusing to sell them earlier this year iv heard nothing from them... The Vintage with the attack and grunt switches has somewhat transformed what the pedal can do. I'd very much recommend you give one a go!
  12.
Does the EQ work on just the clean element or on the whole lot?
The EQ is post-distortion so will effect the whole lot.
  13.
I think I'm decided that I'm using my Mac for effects from now on (we need a laptop on stage anyway and it makes it easier to have separate effects lines for my bass and my synth, plus potential for sequencing the synth) but it does mean selling my Future Impact if I'm not going to be using it. I'm not sure how to price it given that it seems over-subscribed at the moment. Suggestions?
I doubt you will lose much money on it. Stick it in the classifieds .
  14. I really don't want to buy this as I know I don't need it, having bought and sold a handful of VMTs and VMTDs...
  15.
I hear no HATE,only passion and respect for the art. Blue
You must be joking. If Maple Road's drummer spoke to you in that way, using the same phraseology, you would just take that as inspiration? If so then your right, serious cultural difference!
  16. I like to look after what I own, whatever it is that I own. I don't understand why anyone would be happy to see their 'tool' bashed about, scratched and damaged wherever it could be avoided. A car is essentially a tool, do the same people treat their vehicle in the same way?
  17. I think its one of those where, if a buyer is stupid enough to buy from the pictures and description, they deserve it!
  18. Mine turned up today too. Good news - it does actually work! Which is always a bonus
  19. I use a B7K Ultra as an always-on preamp, usually with distortion on to create the dirty signal. No amp* could simulate this for me, and actually the Darkglass sound works together really well with valve preamp of my GK head. So, for me, I would disagree with the OP question. I have the right amp and the right pedalboard to compliment it. *When the Darkglass head is released, it may turn my world upside-down a little...
  20.
It would be completely understandable, if Alex really couldn't be bothered revisiting this thread.
Its a shame the path it has taken, but as I have already said the blame is definitely on both sides of the coin, as it often is with subjects like this.
  21.
Wow, I've just read through this whole thread and it did seem to get a bit nasty, but also some valid comments both pro and con regarding BF IMO. I'm not going to go into my BF thoughts, those are well known, and they aren't bad anyway, they just weren't for me. What I've not read about is what TC (never heard of him before this thread) felt BF would offer him that he didn't already have. I mean that as serious question. I've read a lot about how meticulous TC is about his tone at the start of this thread, and what a great tone he has. Well, OK, so what made him change to BF? What did he feel was missing from the great tone he already had? I can understand going to BF, the cabs put out a lot more volume than the look like they can, but I have a feeling he wasn't lacking volume before. I do think that rig, combined with the JBL monitors that have been mentioned is just, well, OTT and comical. Never having gigged at this level maybe you do need all that stuff on stage, although I personally can't understand why. That's not directed at BF at all, but I do wonder how some people can get away with a lot less and still get the job done. Still, a belated congrats to Alex and BF, hope it works out and leads to bigger things.
Best, most balanced response to this thread so far. I would be interested in the answers too. Doubt TC will chime in, can Alex?
  22. I can vouch for the MB Fusion 500 being a great amp with a proper valve preamp running at full voltage.
  23.
A luthier I know had a Fender CS Strat in for repair. It was a heavy relic version and the customer wanted one of the paint surface dings retouched. When the luthier asked why, as the guitar was covered in marks and dings, the response was "yes, but those are from the Fender factory and I did this one myself so I want it fixed". . . True story
That kid needs a slap! Jesus wept...
