1. It is tempting to have a weekend up north.
2. Still nothing? I see complaints about tracking and latency over on TB, keen to learn more! I also read over there a lot of people hoping they don't get charged any custom/tax fees on arrival...but then saying they want their EU VAT refunded. Having their cake and eating it somewhat!
3.
I use the Mono Vertigo for my Dingwall (37") and it fits with space to spare. Comfy on the shoulder too. I've also been able to fit a Genz Benz shuttle 9.0 with all the relevant cables in the bag.
Aye, but owing to the design of the Dingwall its overall length is little more than a standard scaled bass. Do you have any guitar shops close to you? It sounds like you really need to try a few manufactures, if you haven't already. I think the Mono Vertigo max length is 122cm, so that may bugger you for any Mono case. Serves you right for (presumably) inflicting a 36 inch scale length on a G string!
4.
Agreed. I love the fact that modern shapes and single cut basses are becoming more common. I love how much they seem to divide opinion too :-)

No. The original SR is an elegant & lightweight design and all this does is add 2lbs of unnecessary wood, and make it pig-ugly. Horrid. Jon.
Haha You presumably only play headless Steinberger type basses Jon, in the interest of losing unnecessary wood
5. Excellent! I love how SC basses are becoming more and more common, great to see a mass produced one of this style enter the market at what Im sure will be a brilliant price
6. The mind boggles! No matter how nice the bass was and how much you wished it was a 5, surely buying a new 5 would be the best option, rather than changing your 4 string beyond recognition? Cool, but odd!
7.
What's the weight on this? Also, definitely a 52mm nut? I have 5ers with that nut width, so just checking. Cheers!
Damn, Warwick Broadnecks are only 47mm, you must have some beastly 5 strings! Have a bump, lovely instrument
8.
If you've got a good chromatic tuner, do you even need to sound the harmonics? I tend to check the tuning pretty much at the 'dotted' positions all the way up the neck up to and including the 21st and (where available) the 24th fretted notes.
Other than the harmonic and 12th, with open an octave below, the only other fret I check is the 17th. Can't remember why, there was a reason I'm sure...
9. Thanks guys, its all the more impressive in the flesh
10.
Does anyone actually know what Intonation is. ? Play a harmonic on the 12th fret of the E string and then play the open string. if they sound the same your intonation is good. try this on every string.. if its out adjust your saddle position. Intonation is the open string harmonic string relationship. like TwinCam said remember to stretch your string, and always wind up to tune up.
Surely you are forgetting the 12th fret octave?
11.
???? "No trade post in sales thread" ? Where else would one put the trade option?
I said, by PM only. PM = Private Message. Any further questions, message me rather than post in here, thank you.
12. Nicest 6 string ever to grace this forum. Amazing looking instrument.
13. No trade posts in sales thread please, all offer by PM only Lovely bass, best of luck with the sale!
14. Great stuff, Dan. I have a prototype white one and its a cool boost!
15. Ah, first glimpse of the Jon Stockman distortion, sounded good in the couple of sound clip teasers posted over the last few months, hopefully aesthetics improve
16. They are lovely basses, the Walnut ones are stunning, and no horrific binding! Congrats Surprised about the neck/nut comments, though. Surely QC of a mass produced instrument at this price point should mean they are all the same, or at least similar enough not to be differentiated? Completely understandable when comparing the current S models to the S models from previous years, unless they do change the specs year on year?
17.
I'll not be rushing out to buy any of them I have to say. I suspect I'd feel the same as I have about all the Darkglass stuff I've owned... Meh...
Probably The B7K Ultra will sound as you would expect, but I'm interested to hear how the new eq switches affect the tone. However, the Deluxe I imagine will have a lot more going for it as a standalone pedal with the attack and grunt switching, as well as the extra mid band. Just anxiously waiting for official pictures and full specs of the Amplifier now
18. Nothing new for me, Darkglass B7K still holds the title.
19.
Can't wait! Although having said that, I thought the era knob added so much versatility. With the b7k ultra do you think you would be able to set a light od/vintage sound with the bypass or will it just completely bypass the drive circuit?
The era knob has been hardwired to fully clockwise, whereas anything you could do with the era knob can be recreated with the two mid controls. A bit more fiddly perhaps, but certainly no less versatile, quite the opposite From what I understand, the ultra it is a completely clean pre with the distortion off as per the B7K blend fully anticlockwise. Distortion on effectively brings in a B3K circuit before the preamp. Its a logical evolution and the extra mid controls and master volume knob really set this up to be a killer upgrade. I'm not sure I would trust the Thomann price though, they have got it pretty wrong before.
20. I usually have no interest in so called 'super jazz' basses, but this is a really stunning looking bass. Seems a good price too for what it is!
21. I have no use for this, but £40? Jesus, my Indian takeaway last night cost more.
22. Im stoked about both of them. The Ultra is just the bass preamp to end all bass preamps, I was only chatting to Doug about it earlier today, and the Vintage now sounds like its worth another try.
23.
I just got my Aria SB1000 back after loaning it to a guitarist friend of mine who;s thinking of leaving the Dark Side. In the meantime I've been playing a perfectly good MIM Jazz Bass - what I started my bass career playing - and enjoying the JB for what it is. Then the Aria came back - with rave reviews from said friend - and I've come to realise how much I took it for granted. Flawless design, superb neck, great sound and versatility. But above all, it just fits in my hands. No thought needed, it's a huge part of what I am as a bass player and I couldn't part with it. Anyone else had this realisation about taking an instrument for granted? Or are you all less conservative than me?
All the time. Its so easy to forget how good the bass you have really is, particularly if it is the only one you play.
