I'v preordered the Darkglass Super Symmetry from Thomann so hopefully in a few weeks I can have a shootout with the original Cali76. The Super Symmetry will go back if it can't compete, if it can...

[/quote] The standouts for me are: The top wood is awfully done The body wings are bizarre and unequal in size The bridge is off centre The pickups are not in line The pickups are also not parallel...unintentionally The bass shape is a clone of a Corvette $$ and, being familiar with the model, it is very difficult to look at as there is so much wrong with the shape. The control cavity is a very odd design The neck carve looks uneven, particularly behind the nut The tuners are out of line Every time I look at it I see something else. Shoddy is a very good word to describe it. Personally, I would rather a cheap P bass copy than a poorly done NT.

[/quote] No, there is nothing 'wrong' with the Ad. But, why name the gig bag make in the title? Why not comment, specifically, that this is a copy of a Warwick and not a real one? Where did he get this bass from? Yes, you would be pretty daft to buy this thinking it was the real deal, but people will make this mistake, particularly in the dying minutes of the auction. He is being devious.

But yet he is [i]actually[/i] sneakily implying it could be a Warwick, whilst drawing unnecessary attention to the make of the gig bag in the title. I hate people like that, some poor [gullible] sod will bid on this thinking he is grabbing a bargain Warwick off someone who 'doesn't know' what he has.

Well, I'm out of the running on this as I decided to grab a Cali76 standard instead...from Bearfist! Figured I would better spend the additional money elsewhere. Its bloody massive, but I don't need the space Be interested to see how the HPF influences the circuit (have no interest in parallel compression).

Bought a high end pedal from John, smooth deal and perhaps the quickest I have ever had on Basschat when Royal Snail have been involved! Cheers buddy

[/quote] True, however it is just the idea of returning a bass, sold as unplayable and for decoration only, because it does not play as well as you would have hoped, that I struggle with. If you decide you don't want it for decoration, or you don't like how it looks in real life e.t.c. then they are perfectly fine reasons to return it, if indeed you choose to give a reason. Thomann have lumped together all of these instruments, some with big issues and others with something as small a a scratch, rather than bothering taking the time to separate out the instruments into graded categories. I think it is a stretch to say they are misselling the instruments, to say the least. Some people get bargains, some do not. It's a gamble for the price, and you shouldn't be refunded on a lost gamble! Otherwise, I have got an awful lot of lottery tickets I need refunding

For clarity on my side, I know distance selling regulations means there is legally nothing wrong with doing this. But morally, whole different story for me.

So, just to be clear. If an instrument was described as 'Mint condition but headstock missing', and sure enough the bass arrived in perfect condition but with no headstock, you think it is morally right to be able to return the instrument because it has no headstock, without financial penalty to anyone but the seller? If so, I'm speechless.

It's a moral issue really, its not nice to take advantage over such fair policies. I read in another thread on here that someone had bought a 'Deko' instrument from Thomann (for those who don't know, these are instruments for display only as they are sold as unplayable) and was going to send it back...because it didn't play well enough for him. How can that be right? Its a great policy, but not one I would ever consider taking advantage of. If I have purchased an instrument, I have made the decision. Unless there instrument fundamentally has something wrong with it, I would never consider returning it. Effects pedals and small items, different kettle of fish really as they are much easier to ship, restock and sell again with no fuss, but instruments must be a pain for them.

I am giving a DOD Boneshaker a try instead. Different flavour, but perhaps a flavour more suited to me!

Bought it, sent it back. Very dissapointed. Couldn't get a tone out of it I liked. Typical MXR dirt pedal, with the clean and dirt sounding entirely seperate from one another, with the dirt on its own thin on the bottom; for me MXR have just got the idea of bass pedals and blend all wrong. Aside from that, I found the pedal muddy and undefined, with the silicon mode sounding thin and the Led mode too muddled.
