1. Series/parallel is jot apparantly possible if the coils are individually controlled. I have never had a use for series parallel so not interested much in that anyway. The rest, I don't really understand haha! The Bigman is quite literally two big singles under one cover and as such an effective blend between each should work. But, my faith is an Alpher for this as I know nothing at all about pickups and how they work in truth!
2. Okay, so I went down to PMT in Birmingham today and managed to play one alongside an American Standard, with a maple fretboard also. I love it! It was quite interesting comparing the two. The Geddy has a slightly thinner neck and just generally seemed to feel better than the Standard in every way. They were set up the same and seemed to be the same strings so it was a pretty fair comparison. The Geddy pickups had a good bit of growl in them and sounded somewhat more aggressive than the standard, and it did seem to sustain better to. I really found myself enjoying it more than I thought I would! Stunning appearance too, the neck was just lovely with the binding and inlays. When I shift the Wal and Roscoe I could find myself taking a chance on Thomann, we will see! On a different note, I also had a play of a Musicman Sabre as I have been eyeing them up since released. Very unimpressed, neck felt chunky and sticky and I really struggled to get a nice tone out of it, in any of the pickup settings. A few years ago, if you would have told me I would be championing a Fender Jazz over a Musicman, I would have politely told you to go forth and multiply. Funny how tastes change!
3.
I love the vaneer between the body and the top (wenge?) it looks like little blocks cos of the grain!
It is indeed Thought it would add a little more character than just a black one.
and... tell us more about the electronics!
The plan is to have it Volume (push pull active/passive), 3 Way rotary switch (Neck pup/ Both/ Bridge Pup), Neck Pickup Pan (Pan between the two single coils in the Bigman), Bridge Pickup Pan, Bass, treble. So, basically it will be like having four Nordstrand Big Single's in one bass, with each coil selectable in every combination possible. I'v opted for a rotary switch rather than a blend between the pickups to stop it getting too fiddly, but with this setup there should be few tones I cannot get This is if it works, of course!
4. Rickenbacker 4003s in Mapleglo and Fender USA Geddy Lee. Tried the ricky out last weekend, off to try the Geddy out this afternoon!
5. Threads like this always confuse me. How are we calling it a bargain if it is an auction a mile away from the finish line?? One to watch, maybe, but not a bargain. With 10 seconds left in the auction, we still won't know if it is a bargain!
6. The B7K ltd is the best looking pedal ever. So damn cool!
7. Tempting! But hefty old price tag, is it really worth it? EDIT ah, Thomann is better, but with Fender QC is buying blind wise? Can't believe I am seriously considering one of these! But the demos are great and the neck sounds fantastic!
8.
Wow that's an expensive service? Cracking bass tho as usual from the Kev
Standard service is £80 or so I think, gets expensive with any work that needs doing, parts replacing, electronics servicing etc. Wouldn't have anyone else touch it though
9. I picked up the Wal yesterday evening. It is now set up to perfection, fully serviced by Paul and is an absolute joy to play. A bridge screw and saddle screw were replaced as well as the jack plug, and the fret edges were rounded off, electronics serviced, fully lubricated parts and a full set up with D'addario Flexsteels 40-95 guage, now its like a new bass again. It is with a really, really heavy heart that I still offer this up, as this instrument is everything I want in a bass, but I simply cannot afford to keep it. I will be finding ways of trying to keep this, so act fast or otherwise miss out. I have had an awful lot of interest as you may expect and am working my way through emails, but certainly available at the moment. The cost of the setup/repair work was a little higher than I had budgeted for (£££) so my price is firm.
10. Saw the neck of your new MK3 this evening when I was picking my MK2 up, Ziricote is stunning!
11. Lots of interest but still available. Leaning towards a cash deal on this, folks
12. Well, this is a bit special!

You can't make your mind up with this bass, can you? Each time you have listed it I have not been able to resist having a look. Do you have any pictures of it in good light e.t.c.?
14. Thanks all for the positive comments
If its just a tonal issue, have you considered changing out the Bartolini's? GLWTS
I have thought about this, but having owned the bass such a short amount of time, I feel modifying it now would not be the right thing to do. I do think the Bart pickups are a big part of the Roscoe tone so would not wish to change this, it just isn't quite right for me at the moment. I am more partial to Warwick and Wal tone and this bass is quite different from both, so it needs an owner who will love it as it is
15. Vote for Warwick Thumb NT, Warwick Streamer, Roscoe LG.
16.
Where have you been hiding this beauty ? Look at it !! Cor!
Haha it is a beauty, I really like the swamp ash grain on this bass too, and I usually can't stand the stuff!
17. Roscoe LG 5 String Bass - built in 2011. Purchased on here very recently: http://basschat.co.u...1#entry2759992. I'm searching for the right 5 string bass and, although this is an absolute joy to play, tonally I am somewhere else at the moment. So, it pains me to offer this back up for sale. I am prone to changing my mind and will continue fiddling with my setup to see if the bass will work for me after all! Stunning high spec instrument and a fantastic player. Would be around £3300 new with all the extras. Has been set up by me with D'Addario Nickel 40-100 strings with a low action. Super lightweight at a shade over 8lb. Bass is in mint condition. Please note this is a full blown custom model and not one of the cheaper standard series basses. Interested in sale or trade for similar high end 5 string basses. Price includes shipping (by courier or by meet up), extra for EU. Happy to offer cash either way in a trade, but a sale is priority. Specifications: Roscoe LG 3005 Custom Buckeye Burl Top (£350 - £500 Option) Swamp Ash Body Natural Finish Birdseye Maple Fretboard (£55 Option) Bartolini PU's Aguilar OBP-3 (£60 Option) Maple - Wenge - Maple Neck (£?? Option) (Cannot find this in the pricelist, but it is an uncharge from standard purpleheart) Roscoe Hardcase (£140 Option) Weight - 8lb 2oz The photos do not do this bass justice, at all, but should give you an idea of how stunning the woods are. 18. I'v never understood, as a bassist, why a volume knob is needed. I have never used it, and probably never will. Have a killswitch if you must, otherwise just do without
19. Interested in hearing it! Why is the footprint so big, out of pure ignorant curiosity?
20. D'addario Flexsteels - superb strings but I prefer Nickel on my Roscoe so no need for them now. They do not do a 40-125 Flexsteels set as standard, so this set is made up of the 4 string 40-95 set and a seperately purchased Flexsteel .125 B. So, 40 - 60 - 75 - 95 - 125. They are cut to fit a 35 inch scale roscoe 3 x 2 headstock with 3 winds, so I'm willing to guarantee these will fit all 34 inch scale instrument and the majority of 35 inch. Dingwall, probably not They have about 30 minutes use, so basically new. £22 shipped, which is less than the cost of the 4 string set alone from most retailers NB the .125 is not Tapered, contrary to the image!
21. Well, the ribbon figured Rosewood billet has now been split, and my god was the inside a treat! Anyone ever see two-tone rosewood before?? I can't wait to see this carved!
