1.
That's an absolute bargain!! I paid about £700 for the same bass but unfortunately due to a dishonest seller, I found out it had a warped neck which rendered it practically unplayable. I had it fixed but because of the extent of the warp in the neck, it would never return to it's original working condition. It was such a disappointment as it sounded incredible but I was unable to set it up to my preference so I had to sell it on at a big loss. I've had two 4 string versions and again both absolutely fantastic basses, but ultimately I would've loved the 5 string version to have been in much better condition than it was. That is the danger of buying blind sometimes, as Pinball says above, definitely try it out first.
Was that a red streamer LX 5, built in 2000? I had one with a warped neck, bought and sold at £400. From what you have said it sounds like it could be, other than your compliments about it; I found it an awful instrument £500 for a LX 5 in good condition is a great deal, pictures and year?
2. And replied. International shipping more than welcome at actual cost price
3.
Nope, I've just double checked and as of 'this moment in time' the OP has not stated that it is resolved to the satisfaction of both parties! However, I have a feeling the thread will be locked because your statement doesn't quite pan out Kev. How can anyone discuss the merits of an ebay seller not following through with a sale WHILST not discussing this incident, it's all about this incident!
You will note my use of the word 'Apparant' I very much hope the OP will return and clarify his final version of events. You may be right about this thread, but i have (perhaps misplaced) faith
4.
'insults' TBH I've heard worse when one of the parties wasn't a BCer... is it a case of differing standards because the person discussed is a BCer. I assume the thread will remain open if the merits of reneging on a deal are further discussed?
The thread will remain open if this does become a discussion about the merits of a eBay seller not following through, and not a continued discussion about one particular incident that has since been resolved to the apparent satisfaction of both parties
5. Thought so but it's worth checking! No maple neck = big plus point for me What kind of weight is she?
6. A few photos taken this evening of her. This bass is incredibly difficult to photograph due to its high gloss finish and blackness and frankly these photos look terrible, but perhaps show it in a slightly more true-to-life light than the Bass Direct images above. Look at my Warwick photos in the bass porn thread, I'm usually a little better with a camera!
7.
Thanks guys Bluebeard has sold!
Bollocks! How did I miss that
8. I only really took her on a whim and it was always unlikely to find a permanent place in my stable. It really is a great bass, though, and is a passive bass lover's dream!
9. I think the G on yours is actually referring to yours being built in July, particularly if there is a space between the letters. Confusing indeed! But I think there has only been one Korean series. Edit : beaten to it!
10. I believe the new Rockbasses have rockbass on the truss rod cover . You are right that the new German pro series are assembled in China! The serial number begins WPS so this one is definitely made in Korea, so in summary the spec list on here (and Thomann) seems to be wrong. I would post the right list but i am on my phone! Anyway, point is this is a top quality Warwick with all the German electronics and hardware, I would if I could!
11. My understanding... Rockbass, made in China. Pro Series, made in Korea WGPS Pro Series (2013 or 2014), parts shipped to Korea for assembly This bass is the second one I believe, and is not a Rockbass, unless it says so on the headstock.
12. Rockbass and the new WGPS series (which has replaced the Pro Series) are different basses. Then there is the uber German series. This bass was made in Korea and is now discontinued.
13.
Possibly, although Boss have tried to emulate the DM-2 on the DD-7 before.....and failed.....so unless the new DM-2w completely nails the original sound, I think the original will stay in the high price range. Also remember that there are a LOT of DM-2 clones, but people still go back to the original Si
Wasn't the DD7 digital? From the way this seems to be marketed, it will be the same circuit with an additional mode?
14. Do you have the serial number of the bass? or the full specification?
15.
I owned several old ones and played a few of the new ones. As I said in a private message, in the last years Warwick tried to re-gain its old status but the period between late 90s and 2000s is definitely worse, with the zama hardware, the graphite nut and the vynil glue. Not sure about the necks but I still guess the old ones have thinner necks. Never experienced a rattling slot on the Just-a-nut I, to be honest. And I'd never gig a bass with MECs, it's certainly a personal taste thing but I find them just ugly. The only thing I'm according to is the weaker truss-rod but luckily these ones are in perfect shape and in the worst case, I've replaced the rod on a friend's '86 4 strings and it was a 3 minutes job. The replacement costs something like £20.
I would agree with the late nineties/00's comments, unfortunately these are probably the most common Warwicks due to the quantity built and have been the basis many have formed opinion on the Warwick brand, which is a shame as for me (and you by the sounds of things) they were probably the 'worse' basses Warwick have made, with exception to the signature series and some of the LTD basses. As a general rule of thumb (see what I did there), the really old Warwicks and the really new Warwicks are the ones to go for
16. They both look cracking! There is no answer to which are better, opinions are opinions! My review of my 2013 SS1 on the forum will tell you where I am on the debate, but thats a conversation for a different thread! If I could justify the six I would, but the likely incoming of another 2013 Warwick means I'm all spent out! If that falls through though...
17. I am all over the DM-2W! the DM-2 is a superb pedal, I wonder if this will have the bass whammy effect on the originals?
18. Can't believe two of these holy grails have passed through my hands, both a good bit under half their value now it would seem! GAH! Superb fuzz, no clone will match the sound this thing can make, amazing pedal
19. just going to slide this one into the Effects forum
20. Such a shame to see this being sold so quickly, I followed the build thread and its a stunner.
