1. Cheers guys, it does have superb woods. Just can't stay away from basses built by ze Germanz!
2. Up for sale I now have this stunning 2010 Dingwall ABII bass. I love Dingwall basses and I love their playability, however as with every new bass I seem to try these days I find myself going back to Warwick again. This one is a stunner, top spec with an amazing spalted maple burl top on a chambered walnut body, with lovely walnut neck and wenge fingerboard. The bass is crazy light, under 8lb, and is a tonal monster. The bass with these options would currently cost £3795. Specs are as follows: Model – Dingwall ABII Date – 27[sup]th[/sup] April 2010 Neck – Walnut neck with dual carbon fibre spars - satin finish (£165 Option) Fingerboard - Wenge Fingerboard Radius - 190mm – 406mm, 7.5″ – 16″ Compound 24 Banjo frets X Top Package – Spalted Maple Burl with Maple Laminate - (£615 Option) Walnut Chambered Body Natural Gloss Finish Dingwall USA Stainless Steel strings Electronics 2 x FD-3/Mach II 4L pickupsRotary pickups selector Active Glockenklang 2-band. Hybrid active/passive treble - (£265 Option) Active/passive switching, treble control works as a passive tone in passive mode Magnetic battery compartment cover Case - Dingwall logo Levys Pro case Dingwall Custom Made by Hipshot Ultralight tuners Dingwall Custom Made by Hipshot Bridge (Black finish), 18mm string spacing Weight – 7lb 12oz Manufactured in Canada In great play worn condition, was setup with a full fret dress in April of this year. Couple of dings here and there, will try and photograph the ones I can. A few pictures:
3. Always a Warwick that has evaded me, the $$. Haven't even played one. I bet they sound great
4. Lots of tempting trade offers, but realistically unless cash is coming my way, or its a Warwick, I'm really after cash here. Listed on eBay too Potentially making a full move back to Warwick-only basses so my top spec ABII could possibly be for sale too shortly...
5. Opinion on You're Doom has u-turned a little this evening. Jamming and recording with some Stylus loops this evening and it sounds fantastic in the mix, a real surprise as alone it just wasn't doing it for me. Sits really, really well. Hmmmm! Great pedals
6. I have updated my review and added a few new pictures
7. I can't tell if this is just a complete windup or not?
8. As said, if you are happy with the bass then its no issue anyway! Just perhaps take caution selling it on as Adele's bass if you do decide to sell Either way, he is trying to sell the same bass twice (he has probably already sold a number under the same guise before yours) so I would report him.
9. The picture of her playing the bass is real. It does initally seem a little odd but zoom in and I can't see any evidence of photoshopping. Further, the picture is in this article: http://www.glidemaga...onder-ballroom/ The above notwithstanding, this looks very scammy indeed. If you like the bass then no issue, but I wouldn't count on it being the one in that video! Report to eBay and Gumtree for sure, though.
10. Soundcloud working fine for me, sounds fantastic
11. And I clicked on this expecting to read about someone else who has sold all their basses and bought a Precision.... But, absolutely agree with your point. Less is often more for sure.
12.
Just read the blurb the prices on the extra options on this bass are shocking £45 for a strap button But it is a cracking bass Kev some one will be very happy GLWTS mate
In Dingwall's defence, it is a strap button recessed into the back of the bass, so not a matter of just one being screwed on
four string or 5 string trades?
Sorry, no trades
13. Up for sale I have this lovely Dingwall Afterburner I, born November 2013. 4 string version, alder body with gorgeous satin wenge neck, all passive with a very wide range of tone options available. Also factory fitted with an upgraded neck P-Tone pickup, designed to sound like a traditional P bass tone. It really does sound as good as any Precision bass I have heard when solo’d. Several other upgrades, including the wenge neck, glow in the dark side markers and stunning blackburst finish, put this bass at £2571 new. Have to say, as a Passive bass this completely beat my higher end ABII for tone, largely due to the neck pickup sounding massive being wired in series and having that wonderful tone. All kinds of modern and traditional tones to be had across the pickup selector settings, it is quite impressive for a passive instrument. Specs are as follows: • Dingwall made in Canada FD3-A, MACH II 4 L bridge pickup • Dingwall made in Canada P-Tone neck pickup - £65 option • Dingwall passive controls; volume, pickup selector (Bridge, both parallel, both series, Neck), tone control • D’Addario custom guage strings • Two piece Alder body • Blackburst finish - £80 option • Wenge Fingerboard • Banjo frets • Novax® Fanned -Fret System™ • Wenge neck - satin finish, 34 - 36.25" - £165 option • Lumilay Green side dots - £66 option • Hipshot ultralight tuners (black) • Optional rear strap button - £45 (allows to bass to hang 4 - 5 inches over to your right for easier access to 1st fret) • Custom Dingwall Bridge (Black finish) • Weight - 3.85kgs/8 lb 5oz • Manufactured in Canada Superb instrument, only selling as I moving to a Warwick-only guy once more. Bass will come with it’s Dingwall Gig Case. It is in tip-top condition, a couple of tiny dings but nothing a camera could pick up I’m afraid! Price is very firm at £1,600 plus shipping, which is a complete bargain, almost £1k cheaper than new for a 7 month old bass. Dingwall don’t make many 4 string Afterburners either! Insured shipping, work on £35 but I will check this when it comes to it. Pickup from Leamington welcome. Trades not considered at this time I'm afraid. Photo’s don’t do the bass justice, it is a lovely transparent finish and the Alder really shimmers through, lovely lovely! Cheers!
14.
I found the Your Doom to be a disappointment. Couldn't really get a good sound from it, although plenty of people seem to like it! One thing is, I think that whole thing about it being so dynamic is so overblown, I found it made pretty much the same sound no matter how hard I plucked. The Duality had some great sounds in it, but ultimately I was annoyed by the fact it did not have a gain control. I found some of the best sounds from it by turning down the volume on the bass. Neither could shake the Team Awesome Fuzz Machine from its throne! Best bass fuzz of all time if you ask me!
I think the You're Doom does respond quite well to technique, particularly when muting and playing otherwise clean. I can't really explain why but it just isn't quite what I thought it would be. In a way I wish I would have hung on to my Proton to see how they worked together, but I was very underwhelmed by that pedal too... I tend to run fuzz pedals at 3/4-full gain anyway otherwise I find they don't cut through, so the lack of a gain knob doesn't bother me really. I wish the 'gate' was a little tighter on the left side, but yes turning down the volume on the bass cleans things up. I like how it is a different fuzz sound, not copying this or that. With exception to the Vintage, which just sounded like an average drive pedal to me, I really dig the Darkglass design and direction. I enjoyed my TAFM, but I sold it after I bought, I think, an ARC Green Muff clone, which just made the TAFM sound quite tame and weedy to be honest! Perhaps I may revisit in the future
15. I have one, good strap, does it's job
16. They're pretty different units, for sure. I don't really intend on keeping both and will move the one I get on with least on. Duality winning at the moment
17. Not a bad parcel to receive on a Friday Had a quick jam through the pair of them; Duality sounds brutal and works well with the B7K. Loads of crazy tones to be had there. You're Doom isn't quite what I expected and I am struggling to get it to do what I want, very early days yet though What are peoples thoughts on these criitters?
18. You already have a W&T, do you? I find they are a bit love or hate, probably why there always seems to be several for sale on here! This is lovely
