1. She's a beauty! The finish on the neck feels so good in the hand and she is punchy as hell. Cheers to Nick at Warwick for setting this up for me
2.
It's not a "why do you like them?" question. For me it was more a "what makes this bass more special than any other Fender Jazz?" question. I could understand it if the OP had actually had a go on the bass in question and it was an awesome sounding and playing instrument, but it's just some photos in an eBay listing. So what is it?
Exactly my point.
3. She turned up today She is a hefty beast but sounds stunning
4.
Horses for courses mate......I started playing bass in 1974 at the age of 11, all I ever wanted in them days was a real Fender jazz..it took me the best part of 10 years before I could afford one, Ive loved them ever since. The older jazzers evoke a feeling for me that I cant really explain other than to say, that every time I pick one up, or see an old vintage jazz ,that feeling of the first time I owned one comes flooding back. For me its not about money or making money on old vintage guitars, it's the way they make me feel.....but hey...each to his own
Great reason and one I couldn't understand having never had that desire for one. Its when I see someone more my age group (25-30) describing these as their dream instruments that confuses me somewhat, but as you say, each to their own,
5.
Can someone please explain what is some wonderful about this bass. It looks just like a Fender jazz to me.
I'm at a complete loss too... In many people's opinion older Fenders may sound or even play better (differently) than new ones, but how can you get that from that listing? When I have more money than sense, I am going to buy a load of old Fenders, a load of new Fenders and a load of cheap eastern copies and see what I can pass off as what in a blind test
6. No Warwick will match this for tonal versatility, even one of those Twin J's is brilliant, two must be crazy.
7. Brand new condition 3Leaf Proton, white and gold edition, only 25 Made this year. Looking to trade this for a 3Leaf You're Doom, no other trades! Ultimately, I want both of these pedals but can't afford them at the moment, and i would have more use for a you're doom alone! Let me know if you have one!
8. Fantastic looking instrument, a little too beat for me but a bargain for people who can live with a ding! GLWTS
9. Good bit of interest this week but very much still here, offers please
10. Second bump for gold! Superb bridge, second only to the Warwick 3D bridge IMO
11. Nice bass bud Do you still have my old NT?
12. Bump another purchase now forces my hand to sell this one rather than trade, unless it is something I can sell easily myself... In which case you may as well sell it instead
13. The 5 refers to the year of manufacture
14. Welcome to the deep side! Stay away from the classifieds, your wallet will thank you!
15. Keep coming back to look at this, really lovely looking instrument!
16. Id long for a house that had enough floorspace to do that with.... And enough basses I will contribute to this thread next week with any luck...
17. A couple of people have asked now if the bass can be strung B-G. As I say, happy to set the bass up B-G with a set of strings purchased by the buyer if required, however be assured the nut is cut enough for B-G. It is, however, great E-C! Here is a picture of a .125 B in the nut
