1. It is with a heavy heart I am listing this for sale. My custom order Cog 'Intertia', commissioned with a mission of building a overdrive capable of adding very light grit to heavy drive, together with a big muff fuzz whose tone could be molded into any muff tone possible. The result was this pedal, christened 'Inertia' by myself, and it comprises of an 18v Knightfall Circuit (voltage doubled for headroom) and a Grand Tarkin with LPF and HPF controls alongside the tone nob for ultimate mids manipulation. The webpage for this pedal is here and reads as follows: "Inertia" - Knightfall Distortion and Custom Grand Tarkin Bass Fuzz "Inertia" is a pedal commissioned by Kevin Hide and designed to provide warmth and dynamic distortion through the Knightfall, and huge fuzz tones through the Grand Tarkin while keeping a small footprint overall. Subtle changes were made to each circuit to squeeze the last few drops out of what each could do; with the Knightfall running at 18v, and corner frequency adjustments on the Tone control of the Grand Tarkin, in a very similar way to Dweezil Zappa's Custom Tarkin Fuzz. The Knightfall was selected for this custom build as Kev's specification required an effect with the versatility to provide either an always-on overdrive, a boost, or to add just a touch of grit to a bass guitar tone. To mate it with the Kev's existing equipment and to provide increased headroom, the Knightfall runs at 18v, boosted internally. The addition of the Dweezil mods to the Grand Tarkin creates an extremely versatile bass fuzz, with the filtered clean blend maintaining the enormous lows and the combination of Tone, LPF and HPF allowing a broad range of fuzz tones while still retaining the character of the Tarkin. The LPF and HPF controls are both "more" controls, extending the cut-off frequency of each further into the mid-band of frequencies. With the Tone knob at noon, turning the LPF up will add low-mids initially, and turning up the HPF will add high-mids. The combination of the two allows the user to dial in cut or boost of the mids, and a choice of where those cuts and boosts will affect the mids, and also how wide those cuts and boosts will be. Is it overkill? Yeah, probably. Does it sound awesome? Unquestionably, yes. I am selling for a couple of reasons:- a) I am finding myself using my B7K for drive tones and as such have only been using the Knightfall circuit for over-the-top drive, which is not what I had it built for. I am straying away from Muff-Type fuzz sounds and as such the other circuit is practically going unused. The pedal has never been gigged, nor has it ever left my house, nor has it had velcro applied, nor does it have a single mark on it. It is in mint condition and it deserves to be gigged the f**k out of. To have something similar built would cost upwards of £250 and I know Tom is getting orders left right and centre at the moment so imagine build time is also a factor. £200 firm ,shipped special delivery in UK. Will consider trades but mainly looking for a cash sale. Condition of sale is that you give me first dibs if you decide to move her on! Although, it does have my name on it (literally) so shouldn't be difficult to track down again! Thanks Kev
2. Is the battery cover intact, as it is missing in the photos?

Oof, lovely and I don't like P basses!
8. Look
I think sometimes in pedals "higher quality" doesn't mean better sound.
Absolutely, and this is no exception, they sound identical. However, higher quality does unquestionably indicate a pedal will last longer and function better. The footswitch on the US models is superb and will likely never need replacing. Same cannot be said for the 3dpt switch fitted to the finnish model. The Japanese Boss OC-2 is a famous one; sounds exactly the same and made with the same components as the Taiwanese, yet people will bizarrely pay more.
9. Potentially my old case if this was with the Holly Zoid Quality cases, these. Super light and superior protection to a softcase, well worth the money. Next time I am up Essex way, if it is still available I may take it myself
10. I noticed that the B3K had dropped in price, god knows why as they sell like hotcakes! This is a great price for an excellent pedal, have a bump
11. Having looked at a sales thread for a Finnish built B3K here, I wonder if something as little as this is how older pedals become desirable? I have never heard of the Finnish B3K (or B7K) being described as rare and coveted before; whilst it is cool that Doug built them, they are identical in sound to the US version and Spencer's design uses higher quality components. Given the choice again (I own a US B7K), I wouldn't consider buying an older Finnish version as it just doesn't make sense from a practical point of view, but perhaps they are now becoming collectible?!
12. ^^thanks bud I am now going to list this to include shipping, I should be able to source a box. £700 shipped in the UK £650 Collected from Leamington Spa
13.
Have never tried a 3Leaf Proton but I have the both MXR filter and the 3Leaf GR2 - both very usable but both very different. Personally I prefer the GR2 because it has a better range of options compared to the MXR but the MXR is more 'PnP'; you can get a decent tone from the MXR pretty much without doing any tweaking where the GR2 is a little bit more 'hands on', is capable of getting much wetter and funkier (IMHO) than the MXR, can sweep up and down and can be set to Low Pass or Band Pass where MXR doesn't do up/down (not that I use that feature much, if at all!) and is set at Band Pass. I have both the MXR & the GR2 on my board - the MXR set to Band Pass and the GR2 set to Low Pass - and use them for different applications. Both great filters I can only assume the 3Leaf Proton will be a decent filter too but I tried a 3Leaf Wonderlove based on my love of the GR2 and found it to be somewhat lacking, nowhere near as usable as the GR2 (again, IMHO) so it was sent packing.
See, now that has interested me. From what you say, you thought the GR2 was a good step ahead of the Wonderlove? In what way?
14. Lots of thinking points in this thread! The MXR is not my usual kind of filter, but then again my 'usual' kind of filters have all been sold for one reason or another! The Proton I think is leading the way in my head; I am almost tempted to buy a few and have an extended test of them, you just don't get a feel for filters in store I feel.
15. Funny, I'm selling my Ric as I don't think it will get the use it deserves, however I'm going to have to show a lot of restraint and not go looking for a 4003w when it sells! I wasn't sure about the maple board at first but your pictures just look stunning
16.
Which is the best fuzz pedal?
There is no answer to that questions One thing I would say, I wouldn't consider a TFR before having a chat with Cog Effects. His muff circuit (Grand Tarkin) is the best muff type for bass out there at the moment IMO, and he'll build in a whole host of modifications for you at a great price. And, it's always good to support English builders!
17. How unusual. It is very deliberate playing, so whether these are covers that neither of us have heard of, or it's his own original work; I don't think it was just random noodling anyway...
18. Yup, Spectorheads. First run of Warwick Streamers, 300 or so IIRC.
19. Any particular reason why you would want them straight? I recently owned a Streamer and the previous owner drilled extra holes to have the machines straight, but apparently changed his mind and went angled again.
20.
Some overdrive and fuzz pedals can overload and sound bad with the high output from a Stingray, especially if you like to crank the bass and treble knobs, and many vintage style fuzzes apart from Big Muffs sound terrible with an active buffer before them. The Musket and TFR should be fine but no idea about the others you listed. Gotta say my absolute favourite distortion sound right now is my newly acquired SUB Ray4 through a Boss ODB-3. They sound like they were made for each other, so should be a good match with a HH 'Ray. Also, that pedal can handle a really hot bass signal better than anything else I've encountered. Give one a try if you haven't since they are so cheap to get hold of second hand, I will say though that it sounds best with a cab without a tweeter, and watch the treble control on the pedal, you certainly don't want it past noon! Funnily enough after spending loads on different basses and pedals, it's the cheapest bass into the cheapest pedal that's giving me the biggest grin!
I love the ODB-3. Funny, it is a pedal that is both overrated and underrated at the same time, if that makes any sense at all...
21. You have a couple of crackers for sale at the moment, bud!
22. A 4003w! Didn't even know they were in stock anywhere yet, awesome stuff
