1. Hmm, what you are describing doesn't sound like a forum error and rather a PC error, although I hear what you are saying. What browser and version are you using?
2. It won't be going any lower, folks, I'd sooner touch the paint job up myself and sell it for £800 cash as it is, I'm agreeable to a cash sale of £650. The monster head in this combo alone is worth 4 figures...
3. Wow. He makes a point of it having a narrow neck. Reckon he built it as a four, realised the neck was too wide so magiced it into a 5?
4. I'm almost as surprised that this hasn't gone as I am that my Sixpak hasn't gone! Market truly is dead!

6. I can ask the same question about Aguilar, Markbass and a handful of other manufacturers Endless search for tone, GAS and boredom. If a popular amp exists that doesn't flood classifieds and eBay with second hand models, that would be remarkable
7. Congrats on the new bass! Really not sold on the looks, however the sound and playability is superb, best of Musicman for sure
8.
there were some reports of people replacing the tweeter with another that was something like £15, which allegedly worked well and no hiss... but I have not tried that
Certainly could be a workable solution to the problem, but as I say it wouldn't be a solution for me as I don't like to modify a brand new amp. Amongst other things I am sure the warranty will be thrown out the window...
9. It was a brief affair, but I am afraid I am returning the amp to the shop today. From all I have read, the tweeter sound I am experiencing is normal and expected of these amplifiers, which regretfully makes the amp completely unsuitable for me. Primarily was to be used as a home practice amp and a studio recording amp, and with the hiss of that non-adjustable tweeter it would be no good for either of these uses. Would be no problem at all if it was to be used as a gigging amp. I know the issue could easily be helped by sticking a bit of foam or felt over the tweeter to block out the white noise, however whilst I may be happy to do this with a second hand amplifier, I don't feel like I should have to do this with an Amp I have just bought brand new. If it's not perfect for me, it needs to go back. I have requested that the shop look into the return as a fault as well as being not fit for purpose, as I really don't think a tweeter should be that loud. Perhaps at 25 my hearing is still better than others and it's just more audible to me, who knows. Otherwise, the amp sounded good and I am sure it performs well for 99% of the bassists out there Lesson learned: listen harder when trying amplifiers out before you buy. (needless to say I did not try this exact amp before buying it, perils of online purchasing..) Anyway, apologies for the thread hijack!
10. I had a 40-100 set on an old Warwick of mine. Similar in character and feel to the Nickel DR strings, without the price tag
11. Mine is from Rich Tone Music, built in January this year so as new as can be. Again, must stress the hiss is unaffected by any EQ settings or volume, remains constant. Of course, on increase VPF settings the main speaker hisses more at high volume, but the tweeter remains exactly the same. Will be completely drowned out at gig and practice volume, in fact anywhere after 9oclock on the Master, but it is louder than the fan and noticeable below this. Not ideal for home practice or studio use. However, from what I have read it looks like it is par for the course with tweeters that do not have attenuators, but have contacted the shop anyway to see if they have experienced issues with tweeters before.
12. Don't get me wrong, it would not be an issue at all at a gig or a band practice, I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing, I don't believe I have ever had a speaker with a piezo tweeter before. One thing I can say, the hiss from the tweeter is completely unaffected by volume or EQ settings and is louder than the fan.
13. So it turned up today and sounds great. However, very notable issue from the off; the piezo tweeter has a pretty loud hiss going on. A hiss that is still there even with the master volume all the way off and no bass plugged in. Is this typical of piezo tweeters or is something wrong with it? Didn't notice this in the shop but then I guess at home its a different environment. The tweeter does not get louder as you turn the volume up and eventually hiss from the 12" takes over it anyway, so I imagine this is normal but its seems loud at home practice volume, and of course there is no volume control or way of turning it off.
14. Blimey, first thumb I have seen that has better grain than my old 90 one! Is that weight accurate, as that is incredibly light for a thumb NT.
15. How someone can list pictures on eBay with that poor quality of lighting is beyond me...
16. Still here, off work this week so would really be convenient if I sold it in the next few days!
17. What an instrument! Should be snapped up at a silly price like that
18. I hope my little comment didn't give that impression, and my apologies if it did! Open discussion (without getting personal) very much welcome and I for one am very keen to hear what Dawsons' have to say for themselves!
19. Now that's interesting, you own an 801 and an 802? Any particular reason for owning both? I'v decided to go for.....the CMD121p! Ordered and should be with me next week! Reason being the cost; cheapest I was getting the Micromark for in the UK was £450; for £250 more I have been able to by a much more flexible amp and not sacrificed much at all in conveniance of size/weight, and this way I have the power and volume if I need it. The 802 just seemed far too expensive for what you got, so that never made the cut. I shall report back
20. One of two Markbass combos I am looking at, glad to here you like it!
21. Rosetti are great. Bizzarely, the Schaller lock on the top horn my Ricky wasn't cut correctly and didn't fit my straplocks (bottom one fine, weirdly!). Contacted Rosetti, within a few days a new Schaller set was sent to me FOC
22. Thanks for your comments Ed, really appreciated. I had an LMII a few years ago and found myself leaving the EQ flat and just using the VPF and VLE. I know the 801 does not have the VLE, but I can't imagine the lack of tone control with bother me too much. I have a B7K that can be used as a 4 band preamp if needs be I am now finding myself looking at the cmd 121p, not exactly massive in comparison and plenty of power should I ever need it. Decisions!
23. Let's stay on topic and play nicely guys and gals please Have Dawsons responded to your complaint yet? And more importantly, any news on the Amp?
