1.
I might also paint the cab at some point I also got the hardware (corners etc) powder coated satin black to compliment the cream btw
Ah, I forgot you did that as well, cheers buddy
  2.
Me 3. I was in a shop and the guy pushed a Fender P into my hands. I'd never played a P before. I was new to bass and had only ever played a jazz. I couldn't understand how anyone could be so passionate about a bass with such limited variation in sound. I have a P bass. But I couldn't be happy if it was my only bass.
Pretty much my feelings on p's too. Played a cheap copy side by side with a 'top end' Fender once, very little in it, but then again it is not that surprising, given their practically identical construction. If anything, I preferred the cheapy, and that was the one I bought!
  3.
It does exactly that sound - I need to put this bass under the bed and not take it out again. I'm already feeling twitchy
Wow. This doesn't help my fretless GAS!
  4.
My Warwick Dolphin pro 1 (1991, broadneck 5 string)... It took a little getting used to, but now I just won't do without it... Comparing apples and oranges a bit... But I do miss my Elrick NJS 5 string. Completely different in most ways to the Dolphin, but the Elrick did have alot of appeal to me !. My newly acquired Human Base fretless 5 is not completely without sex-appeal either though Have to agree on the 'Warwick statements' though... Fantastic basses, and very very tonally/ergonomically different model to model. Never got on with the Thumb, although I really really wanted to like it !. Considering getting a Streamer Stage II, but looking at the combination of woods, I would it is very close to my Dolphin Pro 1. So no hurry there
Two votes for Dolphin, woop! On the subject of SSII and Dolphin, I have both and they are quite different, quite different indeed.
  5. A litle background:I have owned basses by Musicman, Fender, Status, Warwick, Roscoe, Wood and Tronics and many cheap imitation brands, all of which I have sold for one reason or another. I purely play bass as a hobby for home use and recording and I am not in a band. My favourite bass is one I currently own; My Warwick Dolphin Pro I. This bass has a most wonderful combination of wood and looks just superb. The neck is slim and feels fantastic. The electronics and pickup combinations and options give a vast array of sounds, all pickup settings and EQ settings appear to be usable, which I have never come across in a bass before. Balances perfectly. It' s a fantastic bass. On a broader scale, Warwick instrument just fit me. The growl is unmatched and the different woods for the various models all add something different to the sound. I did enjoy my Roscoe bass and the build quality was stunning, but it just didn't have the tonal character that Warwick instruments have.

    Patch cables

Still using George L, bought mine from Prymaxevintage when getting some pedals, worked out cheaper
  7. If it's anything like the video, it sounds superb.
or like this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwEDgSECGiU
For Fender players, that is what a 26th fret sounds like
  9. Collected the bass from the shop yesterday, fretboard and frets have been levelled and the bass is now setup wonderfully with a low action. Iv had a couple of trade offers but I must stress again that, whilst John's Dolphin is still available, this is strictly for sale at £1400 plus shipping only.

Well it must sound rubbish then!
  11.
I can vouch for this combo as I bought it new a few years ago, traded it along with 9B ext cab when I wanted an all valve head & ended up trading valve head for my old PJB combo Funny how things go ... Anyway I sprayed it cream btw & think it looks great. I only sold it coz I needed the money (wedding costs etc) & was no longer in a band. I did keep the 9B cab tho ... Kev was great to deal with so buy with confidence & like he said you can remove the head & use with any cabs right down to 2 ohms (720w I believe) ... awesome amp that PJB still make & great customer service
Cheers mate
  12. Check the neck. Fret the E at the first and last fret, and measure the distance between the fret and the string about halfway up the neck. That is your relief. Anything more than 1mm and the neck is not set correctly. In any case, you should generally not be able to play a bass with the bridge completely bottomed out as the strings would be laying on the frets. Something is wrong.
  13. Ah, my old Zoid. Lovely bass, electronics are superb, pickups really responsive and the preamp is the most powerful I have used. GLWTS
You'd kill all the dolphins!
Dolphins are between the 'frets' I believe, so no Dolphins would be harmed
  19. Such a wonderful bit of wood when will you be selling it to me?
  20. One thing is certain, there are certainly no Dolphins leaving my possession
