1. You're all wrong. It's six big muffs, half an apple and a funky stick, played through an old boot.
2.
The short one is just about the right size for me. But, I may be alone here, I found the back of the strap too slippery and it made neck dive worse. So I sent it back.
That is really quite uprising, I cannot imagine how it could be slippery at all! Was it faulty?
3. They did what to the frets?!
4. Great sound, these basses. Pickups and Preamp really work well together.
5. I use a Mono, love it. Looks cool and feels nice to wear.
6. Here is the pic, should hopefully be able to see the glossy look I am talking about: As opposed to this pic of my old Thumb bass, with no sheen (board was lemon oiled whilst I owned it) Again, it may be just my overexposure to old Warwicks and the fretboard will dull over time, but if it is polished in some way to keep it glossy I would like to keep it that way
7. Oh, and cheers TheGreek for the blind recommendation !
8. Well the Aurora bass strings have arrived today. They were posted last monday, so I am happy with that from the US. No customs charges either, which is always a bonus. First impressions are really good. Notable nicer feel than the DR's, which felt awfully rough doing slides, and they have lovely tension. Tonally similar, the Auroras however do sound a little brighter and importantly the G string is not dead (an issue I have experienced with DR). I believe that Aurora used to supply DR with the coating but they have since parted company. I think DR brought out there own coating and branded it Extra Life, around the same time they brought out the Neon strings. Happy that they are an improvement over the DR's, be it only first impression at the moment. We shall see! Oh, and the best bit? They were buy one get one free on a black friday deal! So two sets of black coated strings for a landed cost of £26. I believe Black Beauties are about £36 a set in the UK. Result!
9. Lovely looking bass with regards to rarity, the earlier basses are always sought after, but the current production Thumb BO basses have Bubinga bodies and Wenge necks However, for 10 years or so they were built with Ovangkol with Ovangkol necks, believe it changed to Bubinga in 2010 (?) and wenge this year.
10. Will the shop not take it back? Best bet for you if it is only a few weeks old?
11. Electronic cigarettes?
12.
love how mike matthews surrounds himself with south american women, not a man in sight!!!
Did anyone find that rather creepy? Enjoying the film though, nothing better to do on a Sunday evening.
13. Sunday evening bump
14. Still here Welcoming cash or trade offers, worst I can do is say no!
15. I use Titebond hide glue, holds solid but still easy to remove if needed
16. That looks really quite cool
17.
... or you could be 'waxing the dolphin' which is equally bad...
Made worse by making a noise like a Dolphin as you wax?
18. Still available for the moment Killer bass, this. I have had 3 different vintage (pre 90) Streamers and this is the best by some way. Would not be selling unless I was in need of the cash. I would also like first refusal from any buyer, condition of sale Some more pictures:
19.
Had someone better start an "Infuriating things people say to male musicians" thread, in the interest of balance?
Yes, they should
20. Being new to the world of new era Warwick's, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the wenge fretboards have a lovely sheen to them, in comparison to the old Warwicks I am used to. Now, I have looked all over the net and not found anyone talking about this. I know lemon oil does not give this sheen, what does? Is it just the fresh-ish wood, or is wax/different oil used? I'll try and take a picture to show you what I mean, but hopefully someone will know what I am talking about!
Slightly later headstock shape, body 'slightly' fatter and the neck body joint is more sculpted than the 84 version... but lovely all the same
I was meaning more the general look The body on the 84 is silly thin!
22.
Shame, I had a good experience dealing with her although the pedal was way too over the top for my playing style. Good of her to admit to making errors and to offer refunds out of her own pocket.
Good of her, but what choice did she have? She has over double the funds she requested and she hasn't been able to fulfil? I do wonder what the real story is behind this.

Looks just like the one I sold to John Lovely looking instrument! These do feel very light too, a little too light for me but favoured by most I'm sure! GLWTS
24. You wont need a new bridge, black and gold looks great! I only bought the brass nut because I just didn't like the [s]plasic[/s], sorry Tedur nut.
25. I trust you currently have the Just-a-nut II system? Terrible nut design, not sure what Warwick were thinking there! I have recently purchased a Just-a-nut III brass for my Warwick. Really looks the part and is solid. Is there a tone difference? No, not in my opinion. You would only hear it on open strings of course in any case, but I didn't notice anything. Find that strings do not slip out of the nut like they did with the Tedur version. And it looks much nicer. Hell of a price difference though, so if you are seeking tone and (in the most part) functionalily, I wouldn't bother. I assume the current nut still functions? It's not game over if the tabs break, it should still work fine once string tension is applied. The new nuts are not held together at all without string tension
